Edit:

A tip is to not use the recent posts on index as that gobbles resources, so I'll shut down that for now.

Damn, personally - I haven't really noticed much in terms of performance issues - and I love that feature, it lets me know immediately at a glance where the most recent discussions have been.

If it's put up to a vote, I'd vote to live with some slowness in the site if it means having the recent posts on the index.

Maybe, but do you use the unread posts / replies buttons on the top left? They're good for that sort of stuff.

I hadn't even noticed that function honestly - thanks! That should work for the need.

I propose a one post quote limit.

Its getting annoying reading posts where there are three or four quoted posts inside it, it's just unnecessary.

If people disagree then OK.

Only God knows.

I agree. It's cluttering and it's a hassle to delete the nested quotes on mobile to make it more presentable.

@jimmy jazz & @Mrs. Waffles - did you guys vote in this poll?

For the record, I agree with you! I spend far more time removing unwanted quotes from my quotes than I would do adding them in (which is anyways easier). I tried to explain this in the above thread, but it seems not enough people believed me ;)

Looks like the yes voters were confusing multiquotes with quotes inside quotes inside quotes. I say just get rid of it.

I voted BTW.

Only God knows.

I hadn't seen that poll, I just voted. Thanks!

Alright. Let's try it :)

Done!

The website is nice, one thing that kind of sucks is how you cannot upload photo thumbnails like on city-data & musicbanter. Where there is a small icon of the photo and it becomes larger when you click it, compared to just a large photo posted here.

Yes, it IS possible to also have that functionality here, but we early on decided it could be a minefield in terms of legality.

It would mean people could upload pictures we or they do not own and which we can't legally host.

It would also mean people could upload illegal stuff like child porn.

I'm obviously not suggesting members of our current community would do this, only commenting on the technical possibility. It might even be a way to attack us. So for these reasons, it just seemed best not to enable uploads.

However, I'm willing to discuss anything. Maybe there's a way to enable it or special circumstance that makes it not a threat.

There is an auto resizing feature, although it only downsizes large images to 800px width or so, can't quite remember the settings.

We could probably set it to 100% or something else if people prefer.

There's no automatic generation of link to full size image at the moment, but it's easy enough to right click an image and open in new tab so I figure that might be alright?
