No matter how many people leave MB, we can always take solace in one of life's few constants: K-Addict posting videos in her fortress of solitude otherwise known as the k-pop thread.

"stressed" is just "desserts" spelled backwards

😂😂😂

Bless her. Aw.

Her work ethic is phenomenal.

Only God knows.

I believe K Addict is actually a he, and I believe oddly enough, he lives in Wales. No clue how he gets any enjoyment from posting in basically just one thread with no feedback or interaction with others - but to each their own.

Quote from: Key on May 02, 2023, 10:44 PMI gotta say tore, I wasn't entirely sold on the idea of a secondary forum but you've actually done a really good job of setting this one up. I know TH was involved in it as well, but I'm impressed with how well this has been doing. I wasn't originally going to sign up but TH sent me a message and I checked it out and liked what I saw. Seems like a really chill community here so I look forward to spending more time here.

Thanks Key 🙂 I took care of the technical side of it, but I don't think it would've worked out if I didn't have Trollheart as a sparring partner and collaborator.

It is a bit funny. I made a thread in 2013 where I suggested making the move to a new place. 10 years later, we finally did it 😄

I also love our chill and much less toxic community ❤️

By the way, did you try the dark theme version of the forum yet? I prefer it to the light theme!

Ah, gotcha. I should know better than to assume one's gender, thanks.

But yeah, a fascinating poster indeed.

He has a problem, and the first stage in dealing with it is to admit it.

I think MB was a different place back in 2013, so breaking away to another forum wasn't really on people's minds. I think this time people like myself are just fed up with spending time with MB when it really serves little to no value whereas somewhere here, at least it has some interesting discussion going on. I'm kind of done hearing about people's opinions about Russia and war and blah blah blah. I come to a forum to chill out, not get upset about things going on in the world.

I have not yet but i'll check out the dark theme. I also like the darker themes.

Not sure I agree with this description at this point, but I do hope this place gets there.

Throw your dog the invisible bone.

Certain comments in the news thread would certainly back Janszoon's assertion up, sadly.

Its inevitable when you create threads for such discussions. The way its dealt with is where it really matters.

I don't think it's so bad. If one person says something that may generally be regarded awful and then nine other people speak up against it, that to me demonstrates a less toxic environment.

If noone speaks up, you have a much more toxic environment. If you flip it and you have 9 awful opinions and only 1 to speak up against it, you have an even more toxic environment.

This is just a metaphor, of course.

I'm wondering - this place is like the expatriates from MusicBanter. But what happens when some of us inevitably drop off/lost interest/stop posting as much? Is this forum basically a life-support mechanism for members of MB? Or would we be interested in growing with a userbase that's not from MB? I kind of like this environment, that being a small pocket of users who basically know each other - there's a lot of familiarity here - but of course, that comes with its downsides as well.

It would be difficult I'm sure to recruit others to the site, it being a forum and all - but I'm sure there are ways to do it. I don't know if anyone would want that though - or maybe wouldn't want it now.

I'd definitely want to recruit more people here. It's just a little tricky as noone's gonna stumble over this site by accident.

Trollheart had an interesting idea a little while back, to make a promo video and post it on youtube. It was discussed here: https://scd.community/index.php?topic=204.0

There might be other things we could do too besides just spreading the word to loved ones.

You could try promoting through Twitter but then that means supporting Elon Musk which...well that is whatever you want it to be I suppose.

I'm the worst at this because I have basically no social media presence. I boycotted facebook, instagram, etc. after the facebook whistleblower case. I then boycotted Musk's twitter. This is the only social media I have left!
