Dear community,

In the interest of keeping up the continual betterment of this site, I ask for your feedback. Words of praise will please us and criticism may help us improve. We welcome both.

How happy are you with:
  • Rules & policies - site management and information about it
  • Layout - forums & subforums
  • Design & function - colors, readability, site responsiveness
  • Moderation - disciplinary actions, how we inform about decisions, etc.
  • Work & resources - do we need more people? Should we promote more? Is there anything we're not doing that we should be doing?
This is just some suggested topics to maybe inspire you. I'm sure many more subjects could be added. Help us become better by telling us how.

I'll post later. Bumping so others can see.

Only God knows.

Here's a small thing that I've noticed:-

On the Home page, the box for Recent Posts only allows for 5 posts to be mentioned, and occasionally all those posts have been in the same thread. When that happens, it doesn't give much info about what is going on generally on the site. I wonder if anyone else would like to see a bigger box, or even, if it is possible, that if a thread gets a new post, only the most recent post is mentioned, with other (same thread) "Recent Post" mentions being deleted.

The key phrase is "small thing" because in other respects I am very happy with how SCD is laid out and operating. A great job, Guybrush and TH.

Thanks Lisna 🙂 Options may be limited, but I'll look into it. What I do know is we can choose how many posts are shown at least, so increasing it is easy.

I'll see if we can do more and report back.

I always go to unread posts to see what I've missed. The home page is useful when I'm popping in and out. No real complaints at this point.

oops! I didn't notice that icon up the top of the home page: Problem solved as far as I'm concerned. Thanks, Mr.Soul

Even though I replied on PM, I'll inform here briefly just in case anyone else was interested in a reply to Lisna's question about the Latest Posts section at the bottom of the index page.

I checked out options for it and it's just on/off and a setting for how many posts to show. So typically, it'll show several posts from one topic if that's where the action is. Changing it would require programming which is a little too much effort for this.

Suggested solution is as Rubber Soul mentioned, the Unread Topics/Replies buttons/links at the top of the page.

Service is unstable for some reason. Chatting with support about it as I'm posting this.

edit:

Seems fine again here now.

Is anyone else posting and then losing those posts? I mentioned that yesterday I made a long post in the news thread, the one about trans athletes, and it vanished. Now I've made one in, um, another thread (in the Abyss) and it's gone too. Am I the only one here? Has this happened to anyone else?

I find that the ratio of discourse about Siouxsie and the Banshees to discourse about trans people in sports should be different. We need more Genesis P-Orridge than Gender Pee-Ouch if you get my drift.

I wholeheartedly agree with this.

Had to Google Siousie and the banshees and it quickly dawned in me why i wasn't discussing it lol.

Here's a brilliant idea for you: start a discussion on it istead of virtue signaling.

I agree. I'd love to see more conversations about music, movies, books, anything low key. Right now this place has the same issue MB has had for years, where it's very skewed toward angry or incendiary conversation.

Makes sense as everyone came over from MB, but it should be easier to tackle it here.

What I'm currently thinking is perhaps we could change The Abyss into Politics and then people can opt-in to those sort of topics. They're the ones generating most of the conflicts.

Meh, I'm doing all I can to make interesting music threads. You could always read my journals, if you're desperate. Bit of Sherlock Holmes? Alfred Hitchcock? Perhaps some Irish history? Or maybe just make a music thread you think others may be interested in. You know how it goes.
