My blood is boiling. I worked full time in retail from 2009 to 2023; even though I was out in my personal life, for most of that time I had to hide the fact that I was trans, be called by male pronouns, not wear anything too feminine cut, etc, and it was already a living hell. Under this law, trans people who have been out for years, decades, who are fully transitioned and live their entire lives being seen and treated as women, now will be humiliated, forcibly outed and forced to be treated as different people, fake plastic identities forced upon on them by some misogynist rapist chodes in DC, all because of the shape of a flap of skin that a lot of us don't even have anymore.

I've been lucky enough in my life right now to have the opportunity to not have to work; the reason I was so passionate and enthusiastic about leaving the workforce was because after 14 years of full time retail work as a neurodivergent trans person who already experienced bias in the areas of hiring and upward mobility, I was genuinely traumatized and so miserable that the minute the opportunity arose to comfortably exist without having to work, I took it. Obviously that's an immense privilege, but my point is I know exactly what the experience of being a full time working trans neurodivergent person is, both closeted and out, and it was miserable even before the Trumpian wave of transphobic policies. So the fact that the rethuglicans are shitting on trans people even more while we're already a group that is vulnerable and discriminated against is utterly draconian and abusive. 99.9% of trans people aren't as privileged as me, and I just want to cry because I know their pain.

This is another step down the road of pushing trans people out of public life and into lifetimes of suffering.

Not to mention some trans people have changed their birth certificates. The only way for the government to to accomplish what they want (forcing trans people to only use birth sex facilities) is to force trans people to wear badges. Cause y'know, that's a totally great idea with only the finest governments as precedents for its use.

Of course the more accurate phrasing is "shops told to question customers they think are trans. So now trans and GNC people literally can't even go clothes shopping without the threat of the Genital Police. They can deny you for "appearing to be lying", what's to stop anyone from accusing people of having forged documents? This is beyond dystopian shit.

Trans women are banned from women's bathrooms because we were born a different sex. And we can also be banned from using the men's bathrooms because the men in there might be 'alarmed or distressed'. This is literally abuse, access to public bathrooms is not optional. They probably want us to be forced to piss on the floor outside so they can have an excuse to arrest us. This is a persecution campaign run by sadistic blockheads.

I don't know if you've considered this - I'm sure you have - but this is going to end up having cis women turning against trans women. After so many "oops sorry" gropes by cops, bathroom attendants or whoever happens to be passing, cis women are going to inevitably start saying "this wouldn't be happening if it wasn't for the damn trans women", and thereby the administration procures the death of two flying creatures with a single missile: they turn cis women against trans ones and they shift the blame from themselves. Fucking insidious.

Mind you, I don't for a moment say ALL cis women will feel that way, but it's definitely going to play into the future narrative. Diabolically clever, or perhaps just fortunate for the scum that are pushing this agenda.

HRT is a medication trans people need to exist as functional healthy human beings. They want us to suffer and die.

The frog in the pot is going to keep on boiling hotter and hotter, and all I can hope for is that enough of the other frogs over on the kitchen counter will take this seriously enough to rally to help out before this frog gets scalded to death.
