Never heard of it, but I wonder if it has something to do with the water gaining a metallic taste from the knife? A similar cure here is to sip vinegar, so I reckon it could be based on the sharp taste? All I know is that holding my breath for thirty seconds always does it for me. Well, almost always.


I expect getting deep throated would help as well.
