I got on mb recently and joined the discord. A couple lovely folks on there directed me to this forum.

Quote from: flytrap on Jul 30, 2023, 05:27 AMI enjoyed it. It's definitely an album that should be listened to straight-through as a whole piece (which is not super hard considering the running time lol). Wasn't obsessed with all the songs individually, but I did really enjoy "only have eyes for 2" and "a dry red". How about you?

Float, Champagne Shit and Water Slide were my faves but I agree listening to the album in full is the best experience. I cant make it to her tour but gonna buy merch on her site from the tour to support.

I was this cool the whole time.

Welcome @flytrap! What's your take on house music?

I've had Janelle Monae on my radar for a while but still haven't fully listened to any of her albums (heard bits and pieces from The Electric Lady, which I liked) - what album should I start with?

I really enjoy the house music I've listened to like azealia banks and the new beyonce album, but I'm not super familiar with the genre. How about you? Any recommendations?

For Janelle Monae, I would definitely start with her debut album Metropolis. It has some really interesting storytelling that lays the groundwork for themes in her subsequent albums. I've honestly never heard anything like it- I thought it was a movie soundtrack after my first listen-through. From there I'd go to The ArchAndroid or Dirty Computer. "Oh Maker" off of archandroid is my favourite song of all time, but that might be the ex-catholic in me talking lol

what's up flytrap, have you heard the more left field azealia banks albums?

this one has been intriguing me lately;

Welcome to the forum, Flytrap and Rebel! Lovely to have you both here.

I'm assuming by your username, Rebel, that you're a fan of Billy Idol?

"stressed" is just "desserts" spelled backwards
