Quote from: grindy on Oct 25, 2023, 05:24 PMI love this, especially the studio version! Is there an album?

Thanks! Did you quote the wrong post, though? Studio version.. seems like you might've meant the Havets Favn song 🙂

It's not an album, just a mere 2 tracks single. The main feature is the title track, Havets Have. You can hear it here:

This reminds me of some of C418's score for Minecraft (which I love btw) 🙂 thanks for playing!

What's your instrument?

Happiness is a warm manatee

Very flattering thank you. It's a casio keyboard with over 900 built in instruments

@Key , that was a lovely improvisation! Very wistful, I picture a movie scene like looking up at the moon longingly.

"stressed" is just "desserts" spelled backwards

Yeah, quoted the wrong one.
Too bad there is no album, I'd buy it.
And thanks!

.

Very kind thank you Mrs. Waffles. I've just gotten comfortable recording myself this way so I figured improv was a safe bet

A much more complete sounding traditional piano piece from the top of the noggin

Quote from: degrassi.knoll on Aug 04, 2023, 08:13 AMI like your piece a lot - very melancholic and melodic. Feels like a fog bank rolling in.

This is a little old but I've recently been reworking it and might use this opportunity to record something new

This is the last piece I completed - a song for my niece once I found out my sister was pregnant.
the secretary glasses omg <3

I wanted to do something more for this thread, so here's a short vid of me playing one of my songs from some years back called By the Brook. I made it for my english folk music inspired project called Nature's Gnomes.

Unfortunately, I had to resort to whistling the tune and the sound quality is a bit shitty :) If I ever properly produce it, I'll swap my sweet lips for a flute or something.

@Guybrush, that's a really beautiful melody and it's become an immediate earworm to me.  Well done on the fingerpicking too (are you using lighter gauge strings there?).  You're an adept whistler  :)  and no need to replace with a flute, the whistling seems to suit being "by the brook"!

Haha, thanks for your comments. You're much too kind 😊

The strings are very old, dirty 12s which are awful and should be changed immediately. It's just I play it so seldom these days, so can't quite be bothered!

The guitar, otherwise, is lovely (my Yamaha FGX3) 🙂

I thought they were lighter gauge because they looked kind of bend-y to me.
And I am not being "kind" - I sincerely love the melody and it's actually stuck in my head now. So there!   :D

Well, thank you so much! Maybe I should give this one a proper go. If I produce it, I'll send it to you 😊

My preferred strong gauge is usually 11 or even 10s, but I've assumed 12 may be better for studio recording, so.. I sacrifice comfort and ease for sound. My assumption might be off, though. I haven't actually done thorough testing.

A little embarrassing, but hey 😅 it turns out I'll probably not have a band for the upcoming Christmas party I'm arranging, so I've quickly throwing together some backing tracks so that I can cover some songs on my own.

It won't make much sense to you guys as this is Norwegian music, but here's me playing a somewhat messy cover of Gartnerlosjen's Kinosangen which should be a duet, but it seems I'll be singing both parts 🙂

The original sounds like this:

I'm considering playing four songs from that album if I can find the time to get it all done 🤔

So I had promised myself and everyone that I would try to post something in this thread. I'm pleased that we finally did our first semi-improv recordings! (This is jsut audio but maybe we'll try to do some video in the future if we can get hold of the tech).

Just like the Workout thread, we all have to start somewhere. This is my 11 year old son on the drums doing well trying to keep it tight, with me on bass basically running up and down the bottom E string trying to give him something punky funky to drum along to. The recording is raw directly from a phone so enjoy the racket and congrats if you make it to the end.

And we liked those riffs a lot so we did a second take:
