I wanted to do something more for this thread, so here's a short vid of me playing one of my songs from some years back called By the Brook. I made it for my english folk music inspired project called Nature's Gnomes.

Unfortunately, I had to resort to whistling the tune and the sound quality is a bit shitty If I ever properly produce it, I'll swap my sweet lips for a flute or something.

@Guybrush, that's a really beautiful melody and it's become an immediate earworm to me.  Well done on the fingerpicking too (are you using lighter gauge strings there?).  You're an adept whistler    and no need to replace with a flute, the whistling seems to suit being "by the brook"!

The strings are very old, dirty 12s which are awful and should be changed immediately. It's just I play it so seldom these days, so can't quite be bothered!

I thought they were lighter gauge because they looked kind of bend-y to me. 
And I am not being "kind" - I sincerely love the melody and it's actually stuck in my head now. So there!

My preferred strong gauge is usually 11 or even 10s, but I've assumed 12 may be better for studio recording, so.. I sacrifice comfort and ease for sound. My assumption might be off, though. I haven't actually done thorough testing.

A little embarrassing, but hey 😅 it turns out I'll probably not have a band for the upcoming Christmas party I'm arranging, so I've quickly throwing together some backing tracks so that I can cover some songs on my own.

It won't make much sense to you guys as this is Norwegian music, but here's me playing a somewhat messy cover of Gartnerlosjen's Kinosangen which should be a duet, but it seems I'll be singing both parts 🙂

So I had promised myself and everyone that I would try to post something in this thread. I'm pleased that we finally did our first semi-improv recordings! (This is jsut audio but maybe we'll try to do some video in the future if we can get hold of the tech).

Just like the Workout thread, we all have to start somewhere. This is my 11 year old son on the drums doing well trying to keep it tight, with me on bass basically running up and down the bottom E string trying to give him something punky funky to drum along to. The recording is raw directly from a phone so enjoy the racket and congrats if you make it to the end.

And we liked those riffs a lot so we did a second take:
