Who is with me

If the winter here actually had the decency to produce proper ice so I could go skating I would be a fan but the winters that are just autumn's sad bald cousin can fuck off

aw bald people are great, bald trees  not so much

Wisconsin winters are chaotic, and honestly, after 35 of them, if we do end up moving I'll be glad to be done with them.  :P

I've always preferred winter. No poxy barbeques stinking up the air, no kids running around, no  fucking insects buzzing around and flying into the house all day. It has its good points of course, but I don't like the sun particularly, and being a grumpy old Irish fucker, cold and dark and wet does me thanks very much.

(Goes to Wiki to look up the meaning of the word "summer")

Winters are so dope. Love the early darkness, if I'm cold I just bundle up and add layers. Can't say the same shit about summer. You just have to burn and sweat your ass off. You could be butt naked and still won't get relief. At least in the winter you can be comfortable with layers.

Snowy hills to sled down are the best.

I was this cool the whole time.

What time does it get dark for you mid december? Since you're an American you're probably at relatively low latitude, I doubt that you'd love early darkness as much if you lived further north...

Currently we get darkness at 430pm but mid December coming up it's going to dip to around 4pm which I have no problem with.

Just looked up my latitude and it's around 42.252865

I was this cool the whole time.

huh yeah it's not much later than here then, I expected there to be more of a difference. Good for you for not minding the lack of sunlight, I sure do

 "...autumn's sad bald cousin..." Brilliant !

Yeah, I also hated the winters of England: mainly the 24/7 cold that goes on for months. Yes, as DJ says, you can bundle up in layers, but when the place you live in is cold, you end up gravitating to the warmest place in your home: the bed - so you end up living like an invalid, and if you do venture out, it'll be prematurely dark, so you can't even see that all the colours have been reduced to white, grey and brown.

Luckily, winter for me now means bright blue skys, lots of green and just one or two days when it's so cold that I have to dig out a long-sleeved shirt, or even a sweater, to go out in the evening.

What you desire is of lesser value than what you have found.

I don't like cold weather and icy roads but I do like the lack of tourists and mosquitos.

Plus, it's always nice to watch snow falling around my house during a snowstorm and see it accumulate. Even though I know I'm going to be shoveling some of it afterwards.
