^ Sorry, Psy-Fi, but I thought this was a little unconvincing. After about 4 mins of stats on how people are leaving Dem states, the guy comes clean and explains that state-by-state populations are rising, albeit at different rates:

"...so, overwhelmingly, when we talk about states shrinking or losing population, we almost always mean growing ..."

My recommendation: read this post and save 4 mins of your life.

People complain about the cost of living in blue states and then claim everyone is leaving at the same time.

Southern California is expensive because everyone wants to live there. I could see it becoming more conservative as only wealthy people from elsewhere move in though. San Diego is getting there.

It's speculation on the current trend in the population shift continuing into the 2030 census.

^ I found that article altogether more convincing, with its map, stats and balanced appraisal. Luckily for Dem sympathizers, there are a whole bunch of unpredictable factors that could change the picture, which the article freely admits.
In addition:-

Using the new data, the Brennan Center estimates that if trends of the last two years continue, the South will gain nine seats in the reapportionment of congressional districts after the next census — the largest single-decade gain for the region in history.

These potential gains are driven overwhelmingly by communities of color. Census data released over the summer shows that between 2022 and 2023, more than 84 percent of population growth in the South came from increases in the region's Black, Latino, and Asian populations, with more than half of overall growth coming from Latinos.

Probably naive on my part, but if the current admin makes some mis-steps that impact negatively on those groups, maybe those groups will swing states in a blue direction? Similarly (though not mentioned by the Brennan Center) what happens to all that exodus from California, etc ? Will they go to Florida, perhaps, and help turn it blue ?

When every coastal town in Florida is flooded year-round because of rising sea-levels, there might be a shift towards voting for a party that actually acknowledges global warming, and tries to implement policies to reduce it.

Yeah, the article is more concise. I looked up the article after I watched the video, to be sure I was interpreting his point correctly.
