I almost wanted to name this thread Mighty Ducks because thats my fave hockey movie but Slap Shot is more iconic imo.
My favorite hockey team is Red Wings. Big time fan since the mid 90s. I got into NHL in a weird way. I was playing a hockey game on my super Nintendo and my go to team was alway to play as the Red Wings. A fan was born that day.
So let's talk last few matches before Stanley Cup Finals begin.
It will be Florida Panthers against the winner of the Western Conference Final series between the Vegas Golden Knights and Dallas Stars.
I will be honest I didn't really follow hockey that much this year so I don't know who I will root for once the Finals begin. Hopefully Vegas beats out Dallas. I just don't like Texas teams.
Not sure if I'll watch any of the finals since I don't have a dog in the fight after the Bruins were eliminated and they're the team I root for. I really thought they were going to go all the way to the finals this year after the incredible and historic year they had.
I'm a Finals junkie even if my team doesn't make it. I still watch and also throw down a bet or two to make some money.
I hope Golden Knights sweep and finish off Florida in four.
I wish Paul got his act together and joined up on this site. I know he would contribute to this thread.
I'm a Russian guy from Montreal and yet somehow I still don't care about hockey, even though playing it can be fun
Guy Maddin, one of the great Canadian filmmakers, has a lot of beautiful hockey stuff in his films, esp Cowards Bend The Knee and My Winnipeg. Not that the hockey obsessives I showed this clip to were that enthused

There is match 4 tonight. The Golden Knights are leading the series 2-1. I was upset when the other team won match 3.
The Golden Knights sealed it in Game 5 as well. New Stanley cup champions!!!
