For sheer, no-brains-required fun, Lift is a sure thing. Think Hustle mixed with Die Hard and bits of Mission Impossible - lots of fast, snappy directing, great leads and a lot of confusing jargon, twists and just a rollercoaster fun ride all the way. I imagine there'll be a sequel, or even a series. Like I say, very much like Hustle on afterburners. Loved it.

Hustle as in the Adam Sandler basketball movie?

Throw your dog the invisible bone.

No I think he means Hustle the British TV show.

I loved it and used to watch it a lot.

I was this cool the whole time.

Never heard of it. I may have to check it out.

The Adam Sandler movie is actually pretty good too.

It looks like the whole series is on YouTube.

This is the first episode. I had no idea it ran for eight seasons. I dropped off around season 3 or 4 I believe.

It's a show about conmen.

I was this cool the whole time.

This is the second to last movie I saw, The Favourite which I believe was from 2016 and directed by Yorgos Lanthimos.

It's a court drama comedy where Olivia Colman plays queen Anne and Rachel Weisz and Emma Stone play two cousins in Anne's court. I won't spoil much, but there mat be some usurping going on.

We get some good comedy, some outrageousness, a bit of sex, a bit of violence even. Still, court costume dramas aren't quite my thing, so I wasn't fully on board with all of it. Still had a good time watching it, though.

It is a good, funny movie and I think most who see it would probably have rated it a little higher.

The Matrix (1999)

First time watching this in over 20 years, as well as my first time watching it since realizing I was trans. I'd always seen some of the trans allegories being described that made sense to me, but watching this again with those 20 years of experience in the trans community I was kind of blown away by just how prominent they are. From the various plot elements being metaphors to the topics of conversation in the dialogue, it all feels so incredibly obvious watching it through my trans eyes.

It's honestly a pretty emotional experience watching this again, realizing exactly what it always was. I think about what it must have been like for the older trans people who knew who they were back in 1999, and I imagine them having a similar reaction, to view this movie and feel seen, having had the experience of feeling like so much about their life just felt all wrong.

I'm so happy I revisited this.

"stressed" is just "desserts" spelled backwards

I watched Waves (2019) and Mid90s (2018)

Waves: I recommend this movie if you're a Frank Ocean or Kendrick Lamar fan. The soundtrack contains a lot of different artist known but the songs are underrated. This movie is a mix of romance and distraught, this is one of my favorites.

Mid90s: This is another one of my favorites, I really loved the soundtrack of this movie it include Mobb Deep, Cypress Hill, Morrissey, etc. I don't really like Morrissey as a person because of some controversy but he had some hits. In the movie they included one of his songs named "We'll Let You Know" I enjoyed this song it really fit the scene. Overall, this movie was funny and had some heartfelt moments.

@Lexi Darling it's been ages since I too saw The Matrix, but now I feel like watching it again and to try and see what you see 🙂

I'm with you on Morrissey as I feel pretty much the same way. Love his music, though.

About Waves, I think that stars the same young black actress, Taylor Russell, that played in Bones and All that I posted above? I like her.

Mid 90s I actually bought on YouTube Movies way back, but still haven't watched 😄

Yeah, Taylor Russel is a good actress I have also watched the movie Bones and All but I never finished it. My attention span is low but I'll try to finish it  :D

I'm not sure I could really recommend it 😅 the only thing that really saves it is good lead actors doing their job well. It makes for a decent watch, but not a particularly entertaining movie.

Okay lol I'll take that into consideration, from what I can remember the movie had a lot of gore.

I guess it has a lot of gore for what it is, a kinda romantic teen flick. But it's not on the level of, say, Peter Jackson's Braindead or last year's Evil Dead Rise 🙂

Evil Dead Rise was crazy as fuck from what I remember. Never seen Braindead :coldsweat:

For, again, simple low-brainpower-required fun, take elements of Die Hard, Taken and Rambo and throw in Jackie Chan as a vengeful restaurant owner, Pierce Brosnan as Deputy First Minister of Northern Ireland, add a pinch of the IRA and essentially, a pretty incompetent police force, and you have this:

It won't win awards, but hey, it's fun.
