OK, time to rant.
Charli XC bloody X! Look at her current album sleeve! How much did that cost, eh? Cheaper if you don't use capital letters, Ms. XCX?


That's bad enough, but THIS is just taking the piss!


So here she's saying this is exactly the same album, but there are three more songs on this. So if you want them, you have to shell out all over again. Now I KNOW in this climate you can just download the three tracks separately, so, so what? But if you're an album collector, and for some reason you collect her music, you're going to be paying double. And to me, this is a real finger to the fans. Not only is it that, but it's a conscious, deliberate one: look what you have to do if you want to get my other three songs. It's rude and it's offensive, not that I care. But I hate the way it's presented. Fuck Charli and fuck her label. Not literally.

I kinda don't care about her music - I'm not a pop fan - but the barefaced cheek of grinning at your fans that you want to squeeze them for more money just grinds my gears, especially in this era when money is tight and record companies should be doing all they can to promote, not cause people to avoid, album sales. I feel like I know similar kinds of people to what you're talking about.

It reminds me of back in my Tumblr days when I got ripped to shreds for arguing against a bunch of 'social justice' bloggers who were saying that Bruno Mars should not be allowed to make funk music because he isn't black.

Or the time I was told by TERFs that as a trans woman, me enjoying giving oral pleasure to my male partner was me "acting out my innate male-socialized misogyny" and that somehow invalidated both my gender identity and my support for feminism.

For being people with such progressive stances they tend to do a lot of shaming and finger pointing and policing of people on their own side.

What I'm talking about definitely falls into that, though. I think it's easier to make up something to be outraged at than to actually talk about systemic issues, especially for Liberal white girls who have to admit that they benefit from the current system.
