Hip Hop History

I came around to liking hip hop near the end of high school, and my first artist in the genre I listened to regularly was MF Doom.  Since then I loved it and it's probably over 1/3 of what I listen to daily.

This thread can be one of education on the genre and it's history, from Kool Herc to Summrs and everything in between.

I'll start with a claim that this is the first hip hop song ever, from 1968
