Huh...I'd agree with you, they probably sound more like the Ramones than the Velvet Underground to me, but the comparison still isn't perfect.

I didn't know of her actually! Hero for sure. Fun fact: my grandma was also a part of the Dutch anti-nazi resistance, less prominent than this but she also hid people and mostly did illegal journalistic work, passing on information

I was listening to a Noiser podcast about the rise and fall of Adolf Hitler. There was an interesting bit about three German students called the White Rose or something like that. They distributed leaflets opposing the war and got executed by the Nazis. Very sad. But very brave.

I heard that there are little metal remembrance bricks in the streets all over Europe, as in one brick for each victim with their name on it, especially Germany and the Netherlands. How often do you see them?

The other one is technically not wrong but no one would say it like that. It would be equivalent to saying 'give me a slap daddy'. People just use the word spank, or else they would say sla me I suppose (meaning hit me)

Anyway Dutch is certainly not a serious language, that much is true
