Unpopular opinion but party drugs are the best. Better than blow.

Montreal is a great drug city but it's also where the trend of lacing blow with fentanyl started a decade ago, which kinda prejudiced me against nose candy

Weed is great fun but people constantly lie to themselves about not being addicted when they absolutely are

Also some of the more recent weed strains are ridiculously strong. I smoked a joint in Portland this summer that blew me the fuck away

I think I liked it better before the formal legalization of weed in Canada, when it was de facto legal for years and everyone smoked in public but you didn't have all those dispensaries with cute names and "weed culture" that sprouted everywhere after the formal legalization. Fuck that

I don't currently do anything non-prescription. I used to do weed and alcohol and had a nasty amphetamine problem between 2011 and 2016, which I detailed in the addiction thread. I stopped puffing in 2021 and stopped drinking in January of this year.

I've also done a couple hallucinogens in my college days. I did salvia once and I was the road. Like, cars were driving over me and I grappled with the existential crisis of being the road. Never again.

Just weed and booze and I don't use any of those today. But culture here also isn't nearly as obsessed with drugs as general American culture seems to be. At least not yet.
