The Mysterious Forgotten Founder of The Velvet Underground

I've been listening to The Velvet Underground since the 70's but had never heard of this guy until I watched this video. Seems I've been woefully deficient in my knowledge of Velvet Underground band member history.

"I own the mail" or whatever Elph said

u shud eat like at least two golf ball sized fists of dirt every day RETurn to S  O  I  L!!!1!

I first saw this video over a decade ago, and it gave me so much appreciation for Schulze as a performer. Seeing one person managing all those synths, sequencers and effects live in real time was so inspirational, and I discovered this style at the exact right time: after my college band broke up and I was feeling like I could never play live without a full band.

I've been working on getting my synths set up again, I redecorated and rearranged some things recently. I've had an idea for a concept recording in a synth ambient style for months now that I really want to knuckle down on during my free time.

"stressed" is just "desserts" spelled backwards

If you haven't located it yet @ribbons

I hadn't - thank you, @Saulaac!  Looking forward to watching it.  :)

I have to admit that since the niche success/meme status of the In Rainbow Roads tribute album, SM64-based covers have maybe become a slightly over-saturated phenomenon on YT, but I still enjoyed this one, and the thumbnail just keeps getting funnier the longer I look at it

Can it get any funkier than The Bar Kays at Wattstax?

Remembered reading that ribbons was listening to Isaac Hayes instrumentals. I think they opened for him at this festival.

The Bar Kays - Son Of Shaft / Feel It (Live At Wattstax Festival 1972)

You are correct, @Saulaac!  The Bar Kays are ACE!  8)  Have you ever seen the Wattstax documentary? - highly recommended.  It's like the funk Woodstock.

And I revere Isaac Hayes, btw - not only as a composer, but as a person.  If you see interviews with him, he seems to have been such a lovely guy.

^I've seen snippets on YT but never the whole documentary. On the to-do list!
IH's "Pursuit Of The Pimpmobile" from Truck Turner is another good one. That car chase is "right up my street"  :pimp:

so many memories here and I got this guy I meet on the way home from a exhibition related to the Civil Service I worked for in Saville Row London...he took myself and Rosi to Wimbledon Palais in Wimbledon near London to see the Who...again......him being a tad of a Rocker was not impressed with them at that time...but he turned in later years and loved them...and I married him.

Still one of the all time best opening tracks of any classic rock album. "Can ya!? CAN YA?!?"

Pete Townsend one of the main band members of The Who. Video starts about Quadrophenia, explaining the story and playing some of the music it contained....then going on with other stories about Mods mainly....Tying in the Quadrophenia Story again as well, because that is the basis of this Video. The Film itself was a great success btw.
Never want to forget the fabulous live shows Rosi and I attended many times, :-X  when young and free..
If you love or interested in the Who, it's worth the time watching this video.

haha so good I posted it twice.... :P

The Late Keith Moon the late Drummer of the Band called The Who....
