Quote from: Guybrush on Apr 08, 2024, 08:48 PMMust mean our Google rank is improving 🥳

I remember (and other mods probably do too) how precious musicbanter's Google ranking was to Advameg.. and how users mustn't write words like fuck or rimschlong or it'll hurt the score!

Or semprini.

"stressed" is just "desserts" spelled backwards

Though Tore, to his eternal credit, keeps alive the myth that we created SCD together, that's all it is: a myth. I may have helped out here and there, making tea, clearing wires out of his way and generally supporting him, but this is 99 percent him and probably less than 1 percent me. In that context, and just on a personal note, I want to thank him for something.

Over the years I have had a pain in various parts of my anatomy trying to get the pictures I associated with the text in my journals on MB to fit. The annoyance when, having carefully selected the picture I wanted for, say, a map of where Oliver Cromwell marched or a logo for Warner Bros, it then turned out to be a LOT bigger than the dimensions given on Google (what's with that, anyway?) and so pushed all my text to the right, necessitating my either finding another picture to use, saving it and resizing and uploading it to a host site, or, finally, and in despair, spoilering it out (which kind of, um, spoils the effect), was a constant thorn in my side. And I may say, this happened on other forums, too.

Not here, though.

Having chosen whatever software he did, it turns out that, either deliberately or by happy chance, it RESIZES PICTURES AUTOMATICALLY! No matter what the size, it makes them fit! So when I was today transferring my journals on the Devil and the one on the history of Comics, whereas on MB and other forums I had to spoiler almost all of the pictures as they would not fit, SCD winked and smiled and said "no problem, son. Leave it to us. We got this." And it did. Every single massively oversize picture I had to spoiler can now be unspoilered and displayed as it was meant to be. I don't even have to think about it any more, and when I make new entries, and look for pictures to accompany them, I won't ever, it seems, have to worry if they'll fit, because the site will make them do so.

So thank you, Tore, even if it was a happy accident, for making my life just that little bit easier.
I can, of course, only express my gratitude in the way expected of me by everyone at this stage, and will not disappoint.

Hello Trollie...Exactly, for you a problem has been put to rest, that is exactly how we wish life to be ..those things that irritate us and take away our precious time... Just sorting out some of the paperwork here in France is causing that kind of uck me and wot the uck is all that about....Just now we need and indeed are having a new roof...Not only have we to spend time deciphering the rules of a contract etc..wot over a ucking roof lol...do you want this raining on your parade Di no I dont want my home dripping every time it pours cats and dogs..oooo and the Marie of course he needs to see all the paperwork for this job and in triplicate, naturally.....
Have a Nice Day now won't you....

and and the Roofer needs 10 thousand euros up front...can see the tiles have to be forked out for....but 10 grand...

Now that I shall have a go at doing...

Yes, Trollheart, I have noticed that about the pictures on SCD too, as I like to post pics at every opportunity and Guybrush has made it so much easier than it used to be on MB. Thanks, Guybrush :thumb:

Nice to see that you're back and posting again Dianne ! If you want a break from your family history/Huguenot researches, there is a book recommendation waiting for you, at post #203 in the What Are You Reading thread.

What you desire is of lesser value than what you have found.

Thank you so much, Trolls, guys 🥰

Automatic resizing of pictures was definitely part of the wishlist, so I'd like to claim a mix between intention and happy accident 🙂

Overall, I am happy we settled with a Simple Machines Forum over the more widespread phpbb or other softwares. It strikes a good balance between features and being relatively simple to use and manage, I think.

A break... I am full on now as a new French Relative that I did not know was another...turn up for the book....lol...I wrote to her via Geneanet.org .. I have a tree on there, not uptodate like Family.org but nevertheless the site you can use for Free...I only do Free ones... they have a huge data base of French people on there so I find so much new information it is a real buzz...not many people close to me are at all interested though so sharing is frustrating as I would love to talk more with my dysfunctional family......even though they are all mad haha well not quite true in reality but...is a good description and enough said.
I love the challenge of finding out there lives and I have learnt so much the Aumoniers often spelt differently makes searching a tad harder..like I found the murdered Pierre Aumonier(Aumousnier) was spelt oddly but then I found he was born in a slightly different place to what I had thought, was infact a place that many of the Aumoniers were born..Lusignan which I am going to at any chance now....https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lusignan,_Vienne.. just to add Louis XIV was the instigator of thousands of Murders of Protestants..his Dragoons carried them out but he was the bullet....yet the French seem to have loved his reign.... :puke: Another time a new book would be good for Moi...

oh ffs the fucking nonce porn is back, anyone with mod powers around?

Lovely porn, wonderful porn 🎶

It's interesting how some of that juicy porn always ends up in Trollheart's journals.
