Honestly, I think the year is sounding pretty good with great music from long time artists and new ones as well.

If the music you're listening to isn't worth standing for then why are you listening?

Here's a new one that makes me tap my foot.

These guys are back?  Wow!  They got grouped in with glam metal but they were always more like Hanoi Rocks or NY Dolls.

If the music you're listening to isn't worth standing for then why are you listening?

Fun cover of a Ian Hunter song.  The guitar work is pretty faithful to Mick Ronson which seems to be the norm.  Great White (Once Bitten) and Presidents Of The Universe (Cleveland Rocks) didn't mess much with the Ronson solos when covering Ian Hunter.

If the music you're listening to isn't worth standing for then why are you listening?

The Black Keys dropped their new album today, "No Rain, No Flowers".  It seems OK after two listens but not sure if I'll ever revisit the whole album again after today.  There are certainly a few good songs.

Judging this as a new release is difficult because five of the eleven tracks have already been available.

High Life by The Shys

I'm a sucker for horns on a Monday!

Lettuce - "Ghost of Jupiter"

Off their live album "Lettuce with the Colorado Symphony". The percussion is great but they could have added some timpani on those two-note "bam bam" phrases.

EDIT: At 1:46, the B minor to A minor section came to a conclusion, and I was kinda hoping they would move into a different key in a fusion-like spirit. But they decided to stick to the B minor tonic in pure funk style. Can't fault 'em for the funkiness.

"An underrated muso" but don't quote me on it..

Margo Price dances on the fringe of rock.  The music from this song sounds like it could have been a backing track from Mott The Hoople's first album.  It is duly noted that Margo Price and Ian Hunter have a different vocal delivery!

Videos by this band are little cinematic gems.  OK, somebody explain this to me, I don't get it.

The Living End have a new album today, "I Only Trust Rock n Roll".  This is the Aussie band's 9th album since 1998 and first in seven years.  I was early on with this band and always like to check their new releases though nothing has come very close to topping to "Roll On" (2000).

Here is the gold standard from their debut in 1998!

Here is another release today and this is the debut by The Cords.  Sign me-up for this collection of nice innocent summer breezes.

New one on October 2nd by Split System.  It's classic punk and if you want old school reference think of Stiff Little Fingers, Sham 69 and the Damned.

From dreamy to dramatic.  The music unfolds like a theatrical performance, the video is very lame.

I was on board with the first album in '77.  Here they are 48 years later kicking ass with their interpretation of rock meeting power pop.
