When I pick my songs I just focus on the topic at hand. So I will post either an older song I like that fits or something more mainstream as long as it fits the topic I don't mind.

Yep, like I say, it's up to everyone how they personally approach it. I just favour keeping really well known, classic songs out of it, as it sort of defeats the purpose. Other than that, educate us! And if you're happy sticking to your genre of choice, there's no issue there. As I mentioned, I just like to occasionally peep out from my comfort zone once in a while before dashing back in and closing the door.
