Jaws' star Richard Dreyfuss slams new Oscars diversity rules

lol

idgaf it's their award but it's corny af when you see people in films or tv and especially commercials who are obviously the token this or that

they dug themselves a hole ignoring minorities for decades and now their digging a new hole trying to exume and resurrect the ones they killed

related: i used to take a good review from the nytimes very seriously but i now i think mostly what they're looking for is how well it represents a certain minority which is about as appealing as a middle school teacher choosing a book for it's positive message

Tbh it's just one symptom of the film industry being a design by committee corporate shitshow these days. It's all about focus groups, HR regulations, quotas, the shareholders' bottom line etc etc. "A committee of creatives" lol

In some senses worse than what Tarkovsky had to deal with under the Soviets

Not a good weekend to be in Texas.

7 dead doesn't sound like an accident either.

I know American cars are big but you don't accidently kill 7 people by mounting the pavement or whatever.

Only God knows.

Are they? Everyone I know drives Japanese, though I've only been once or twice to whatever lies between NYC and Portland

They seem to be a lot bigger than ours.

I'm sure they are.

We have some of the same manufacturers over here but they're tiny compared to the models sold in the USA. We get Fiestas they get Rangers.

Only God knows.

I don't know anything about cars tbh but it seems that in the cities you're more likely to see normal-sized Japanese cars. While in the suburbs the soccer moms drive SUVs the size of a monster truck

Yeah could be that tbf. Might just be my perception.

Only God knows.

Yep, how you use your car, street sizes, trip length and status all play a part what car people choose.

In support of jimmy jazz, let's not forget that the UK is the home of one of the smallest mass-produced cars ever. Here's one doing a three-point turn on a footpath, lol:-

What you desire is of lesser value than what you have found.

americans love huge ass trucks and suvs

nowhere in europe or asia are there so many people per capita in oversized vehicles

i don't even have to look it up to know that's an indisputable fact

i can't believe there's even the tiniest pushback on that

we're the fattest cunts on earth as well

Yeah that is all true

What I meant is that Americans are no longer driving those iconic old school sedans. My dad was fascinated with them when we immigrated to Canada but Japanese exports were all the rage (before he found out the hard way that Montreal is too cold for cars)
