She was responding to a piece that mentioned all these groups as facing discrimination. But knowing the history of the Labour party since 2015, seems pretty obvious which group triggered her response. Jews, on her and co's worldview, cannot be included among the victims of racism. They're the powerful ones. Even had the clout to topple Jezza etc.

I'm not familiar with that. I've read up a lot on the dynamics of antisemitism within the British left in general, esp during the 20th century. Can't say I'm familiar with Abbott's other work, so to speak.

Anti-white racism is something I genuinely haven't thought of at all. I would not mix it up with antisemitism though, cause the idea of race and racial perceptions is not the same as skin color. Prejudice against Jews is its own thing entirely.

The reason why it doesn't work in reverse is because the same implications aren't involved so it's just not as juicy of a story. It's basically assumed not to be racial and on the occasion that it does happen to be racial its still not considered a big deal because it's not systemic and not associated with the larger legacy of white supremacy.

Yeah one of the amazing things about her letter is that it takes the American conception of race, based on American reality, and applies it universally across history. Which, again, coming from an American and a professional airhead like Whoopy Goldberg is whatever.

But Abbott's been part of a political faction embroiled in the biggest antisemitism scandal in decades in the UK. Many of her peers and associates were literally expelled from the Labour party for either spouting antisemitic abuse or failing to act against it. And after all that to voluntarily write to a newspaper that anti-Jewish racism is not a thing is an interesting choice.

I know a guy in his late 50's who still thinks he's attractive to women in their early to mid 20's. He gets agitated whenever someone points out the fact that he's pushing 60, overweight, out of shape, and probably looks like an old man to any woman in that age range.
