QuoteTeen dies after overdosing on FOURTEEN Benadryl tablets for viral TikTok challenge - as father shares heartbreaking photo taken before son's life support was switched off to warn of the dangers of the over-the-counter drug

Fucked up.

Some comments I saw online say that kids are stupid these days but I think kids have always done stupid shit. I can remember the thing when I was a teenager was playing chicken (deliberately running in front of cars at the last minute).

But still these TikTok challenges are mad. At least the milk crate thing was funny.

13 years old

that's rough... and brave of his father to share the picture as fair warning to other youth even though everyone knows how permanent and cruel the internet is

I guess the art galleries have better security now so they're going for softer targets.

Their antics read like a Monty Python comedy skit.

are they aware that billions of people would die in a matter of weeks if we just stopped using oil?

i understand getting rid of feral cats but you can't expect kids to make that distinction

why people can't spay and neuter their pets is beyond me

16 year old black kid knocks on an 84 year old white man's door at around 10 pm in Kansas City and the old man shoots him twice

you can't shoot someone just for knocking on your door - it's not a stand your ground case - it's an unfortunate situation for the kid and the old man - the old man was obviously living in terror and probably for legit reasons- he still has to die in prison, i'm just acknowledging that we don't know what he lived through or what caused his paranoia - i'd like a serious sociologist to determine what's the likelihood that a stranger who knocked on HIS door (not anybody else's- some people have guests and don't) unannounced and black has nefarious intentions

i KNOW people will automatically conclude i'm trying to excuse the white guy but what i'm saying is that's what sociology is for - figuring out why

i've only had that happen twice and once it was a dude delivering pizza (or least that's what he said - i didn't open the door) and another time it was a loved one who didn't have their phone and needed help

but i yelled "WHAT DO YOU WANT?" both times

very unfriendly (at first) to make it clear they're unwelcome

so in a relatively "bad" area i'm two and oh in favor of it not being someone trying to do me harm

on the other hand my place was broken into during the day and once i heard someone trying to break into my car and i pointed my gun's laser sight on him and he ran off (a decision i regret tbh although no one was hurt and neither was my car)

i would NEVER point a gun at someone to protect property at this point in my life so no one needs to lecture me - putting a car before someone's life is shameful

but my point is - can we have an honest look at why we're so damn scared

once you've been hit with a break in or worse a real violent crime it tends to stick

or if you've had friends or family members killed or even just shot

the first death of someone i knew was girl i knew who was murdered when i was around 12 or 13

i think it changed my view of the world permanently

2 cheerleaders were shot in a Texas supermarket parking lot after one opened the door to the wrong vehicle. A suspect is under arrest

definitely not shooting a cheerleader who decides to climb into my car

i be like "hey gurl you just made a fantastic decision..."

There are definitely people who are scared because of bad experiences they've had, but I think a major part of the equation here is the gun industry pushing the narrative that the solution to being scared is to buy a gun. Other countries have crime and scared people, but as far as I'm aware, the US is unique in terms of having so much pro-gun advocacy.

America definitely has an unusual and unhealthy/crazy obsession with guns.

Here's another similar one from the past few days...

Kaylin Gillis' parents left 'devastated' over daughter's upstate NY shooting death

There are so many shootings every day in America, it seems unreal...
