Quote from: Marie Monday on Mar 10, 2024, 11:39 PMIt's not to be underestimated how disruptive the Amsterdam/central London/Paris levels of tourism are compared to most other cities and places. If you live in Amsterdam, you should be able to ride your bike from A to B in a reasonable way. It's not just a city thing though. I also partly grew up in a village which is a hugely popular tourist destination, and the tourists would be a nuisance there too. On one occasion they strolled into the garden and stood looking in at our kitchen window as we were having breakfast. Many tourists are shockingly entitled and have no grasp of the fact that people actually have to live in the place they're visiting and that as a tourist, you're a guest and should act as such

That'd boil my piss but

Thanks for cheering me up a bit.

Only God knows.

Quote from: DJChameleon on Mar 09, 2024, 11:31 PMThey have no love for you as an American. When you go to visit their country they don't care about you unless you are French.

Even if that's true, it doesn't bother me. The French played an integral role in helping us in our history, and even if the average French person don't have love for us now, I'll always have love for them. It probably helps that I have French ancestry.

I've been in France a couple of times and while they're sometimes direct in a way Norwegians would consider rude (not that it offends me), I don't feel like I've been treated badly. Actually they seem kinda fascinated with Norwegians 🤔

French people on the whole often seem interesting to me, being colorful and opinionated. A lot of good looking women in a handsome way and cute boys. Less boring than Norwegians on average. I like them.

:yikes: ...but think of what you have lost, SGR !! The right to claim kinship with the Brits and the privilege of paying taxes to help support our royal family.
On the topic of which, is this weird, forensic examimation of a photo which is now taking place:-

It's not a case of "I can't believe that news story" so much as "I can't believe that that's a news story."

What you desire is of lesser value than what you have found.

I don't live in the UK, nor have I ever been, and yet I still see multiple puff pieces about them every single week. Harry and Meghan are the worst. I'd implore you to take them back, but I have no faith that would result in me hearing about them any less.

I'll take news stories about the Kardashians any day over the royals, lol

I've met rude people in France, just like I've met some amount of rude people anywhere I've been, but overall French people are fairly friendly in my experience. The two rudest people I met while visiting Paris were both Italian.

 Yes, the Kardashians at least look sexier afaik, and I totally agree about Harry and Megs: their constant whining about the victimhood of being so rich is pretty difficult to take.

I wonder if anyone in the US has been watching the Netflix series The Crown ? Even if you have zero sympathy for the central characters, it does a great job of recreating the atmosphere surrounding Britain and the royals, plus lots of beautiful houses, cars, etc. It might even turn you into an enthusiastic monarchist, SGR ;)

What I don't get about Harry and Meghan (more so Harry) is if they want privacy then why put themselves in the media so frequently? Oprah interview and that book for example.

It's also weird how their biggest fans tend to be staunch anti-Royalists. They do realise Harry and Meghan are both still Royals don't they?

Only God knows.

I think Harry probably has no idea how to just be a normal person not in the public eye.

QuoteLabour leader Sir Keir Starmer has called on Nike to change a new England football shirt featuring different colours in the cross of St George.

Nike says the shirt, launched ahead of Euro 2024, includes a "playful update" to the cross "to unite and inspire".

But it has been criticised for featuring navy, light blue and purple in a flag on the back of the collar.

The US firm said the colours were inspired by the training kit worn by England's 1966 World Cup winners.

TL;DR Nike 'pride-ified' the St George's cross.

Only God knows.

The shirt "includes a playful update to the cross to unite and inspire". I think that's OK, if it actually unites and inspires them to go and win the f*cking competition  :banghead:

Are you English? Thought you were Aussie. Do you want England to win?

Only God knows.

I'm English as far as being born in St. Mary's Hospital in Manchester and growing up in Macclesfield, but then moved to France in my teens. So I'll defo be rooting for England. If it's an England v France final then it gets complicated.

(I think Meatwad and Stephen are the resident Aussies on here.)

Breaking right now.

Get well soon Kate ❤️
