I remember Mord and his many name changes. I remember him having some good taste but also some very weird takes too. And I remember when his wife started posting but I didn't know his son also did.

Adidasss seemed cool too. And Neapolitan was a delightful presence from what I remember, his sense of humor always seemed wholesome.

Yes and no, haha. I first discovered MB in late 2007, but I just lurked and never posted, mostly because I was afraid of my music taste being roasted, lol. I was mostly there to discover new music and expand my tastes, but even though I wasn't really part of the community I still enjoyed reading everyone's posts and seeing all the unique personalities on there.

Yes, that was a risk that I was aware of too as a newbie. That's partly why I chose my username: as an admission up-front that I didn't know anything about music.
(I did my own lurking time on the amazon website, where you could read all the reviews you wanted, but could only post something if you had bought a product on amazon first; I was really pleased when I found MB, which allowed me to blah-blah for free !)

Yes, Mord was a pretty unusual guy. He was also a published author - of science-fantasy, I think.
Neapolitan was a nice guy: we had a lot of musical interests in common and used to PM recs to each other. Unfortunately he was picked on a couple of times because of his political views

I'd heard rumblings of that. I knew he used to talk about how he was some kind of hardcore Christian so I'm sadly not surprised.

yeah he would talk about the purity of white blood somewhat often, and his viking heritage, etc.

i vaguely recall him viewing his japanese neighbors (as he lived in japan) as inferior humans on one occasion.

asides this, when talking about black lives matter he doubled down about his eugenicist views on white power.

I arrived at MB in 2021 I think, so really late. Via the 'Name That Tune' thread. Rubber Soul, TH and Plankton indirectly helped me find what I was looking for. And I stuck with everyone ever since xx

Admittedly I cratedug a lot. rostasi, Aldo here and Karice (with her Axel Rose stories) are memorable.

Ah yeah, Rotasi was definitely a posting encyclopedia of music knowledge and experience; I remember him always talking very casually about how he was friends with all these famous avant garde musicians. Seemed cool.

No that's not really a good idea. I did tell him about the place. I think he looked at it but wasn't really interested in posting here which is good for everyone else.

He's super anti Semitic and he has some other edge lord takes that would ruffle people's feathers here.
