also wanna say that I watched it and loved it, and if you don't like it then the past 20 years of hip hop have probably been avoided or lamented by those disliking it.  Tbh I think ppl still stuck in that "hip hop isn't even real music" trend that pervaded online criticism in the 2000s.  God forbid a digicore artist do the superbowl next year because all the sounds Kendrick did have been established trends in hip hop.  and in the angle of lyricism, idk what to tell you, you probably see complex lyricism and symbolism to be too hard to digest in favor of simpler digested narratives.

But yeah if Quinn does it next year (theoretically though that'll never happen) I can't imagine what response that'd get from quote unquote music fans

^This so much.

Those type of music fans won't be happy until ~insert country music artist here~ plays the Superbowl. I even heard people saying why couldn't they get Metallica to play the Superbowl.  ::)

I was this cool the whole time.

don't get me wrong I love country and Metallica and ik what you mean.  But Metallica hasn't made anything original or worth listening to in like 20 plus years, though I would welcome several country artists to the opportunity.  Maybe not of the Morgan Wallen nationalist pandering sort, but a lot of recently released country has it going for it that it's way better than it was from like 2001-2018 in the mainstream, as it hearkens back towards traditional sounds and embraces new influences alike.  There's a lot more non-white representation in country as well now that I think is so important given the genres roots.

Same I'm a fan of both but when it comes to country. I'm more into bro country than the traditional sounding stuff, Florida Georgia Line and stuff.

Yeah bro country gets a lot of hate and I understand why but I also feel like they are a nice gateway to get people into country that normally wouldn't listen to the genre.

fair enough.  no disrespect.  I'm not really into the bro-country thing for the most part but I do like Save a Horse by Big & Rich (that more or less kickstarted the trend) and select country rap artists.  Rehab made this classic that provides infinite fun

(yes I know how off topic this is)

I'm more into old school country. When I'm in the right mood, certain Merle Haggard songs will get me all teary-eyed.

And I liked Metallica's Death Magnetic from 2008. It could use a different mix though.

And Justice For All is their best album.  personally i find the lack of bass to be somewhat disappointing but moreso poetic, eerie, and heavily contextual.  His recent death must have filtered into the emotions they presented on the album so much, it's easily their heaviest work.

I don't disagree. It's a phenomenal record. When I was a teenager, I used to go for a morning mile run down my street and AJFA was one of the albums I'd frequently listen to while doing it - got a lot of nostalgia for it.

I love how many 90s groove/alt metal bands practically made a career out of ripping off Harvester of Sorrow.

Hell Metallica themselves ripped off Harvester of Sorrow when they made Sad but True.

Also Kendrick crushed it and Uncle Sam Jackson was a hilarious touch

What if we just replaced oxygen with swag?
