You didn't know of A$AP Rocky? Surely you've heard this track at least, from back in the day when Kendrick and Drake would feature on the same track.

Umm, don't think I ever heard this track (#slightly embarrassed). Was this a big one on the hip-hop scene? Like a Miles Davis release?

It was very big/popular around the time of release - as you can see, the Youtube video has almost 350 million views. As a very big Miles Davis fan myself, I don't think I'd compare it to him though.  So many of Miles records pushed the boundaries of his genre, and basically changed the entire script in some cases. This song/artist is not that in any sense of the word. It's very much of it's time.

There's something special about it. A lot of work went into it. I tried to look up the year on discogs but it doesn't say what year it was.
