Quote from: Trollheart on Mar 18, 2025, 02:31 AMVery good (or as we say here, particularly today, go h-ana mhaith!). I've got quite a bit into the old Celtic Punk in the last few years. Think my favourite is the Dropkick Murphys:

Big Dropkick Murphys fan, myself (but wanted to link an Irish band). Can't even count how many times I've narrowly missed seeing them live. I've been impressed by how consistently good they've been over such a long time. If they're putting out something new, you can pretty well bank on it being solid. Some bands just understand the formula of what's worked for them and can still evolve with the times without losing sight of that.

Dropkick Murphys - The Lonesome Boatman

Found my way into Celtic punk way back with this gem

Flogging Molly - Devil's Dancefloor

Nice! It took a minute to barely remember them. Gonna have to revisit their stuff!

Lords of Acid are always fun. Absolute apex white people dancing on this one. I wonder how much editing it took to make it look like it was on beat

"I sit on acid"? Sounds painful and not at all advisable!

Awesome piano version of one of my fav tracks. It connects all on its own, but if you've seen the anime it's from (86 Eighty Six) it hits hard and I'm not exactly a huge anime fan. That one is worth the watch.

Avid - 86 / Eighty-Six (Episode 22 version) ED [Piano] / Hiroyuki Sawano

Original (well, the english version) from the show

On a somewhat nostalgic kick on a group I loved when I was living in Stockholm. They started as just a joke band between two friends, but gained quite a bit of momentum because their tracks are actually incredibly catchy. Swedes are so good at pop that even a completely silly unserious project sounds great.

Death Team - Fucking Bitches In The Hood

Death Team - So Fresh

Death Team - Messed Up

Death Team - Dolphin Style

Death Team - Work

Gvllow - Watch You Die

I'd like to believe we manifested new Youth Code to happen.

Youth Code - No Consequence

Love the piano track, and those Death Team songs are so catchy! Favourites "Fucking Bitches in the Hood" and "Dolphin Style". Does that guy just eat food in every video?

Pretty much lol I got to see them live and he kept up that shtick on stage too. Gotta respect committing to the bit like that!

Some ear worms of the past couple days.

New cover track from City and Colour. Fun fact, the singer Dallas Green (City and Colour, get it!) was the clean vocalist in Alexisonfire whose album art is in our own @tristan_geoff 's avatar. This guy has such a crisp and beautiful voice.

If you've ever struggled with depression, this one hits like a brick. Also features Gord Downie, so doubling up on Canadian national treasures.

City and Colour - Sleeping Sickness

Speaking of Alexisonfire! This track and video is super iconic for Canuck millennials. Pulled a lot of people with no interest in metal into heavy music. This is a bit before screamo and emo became what they were, so I think a lot of people were looking at this wondering why the nerds from their math classes were rocking out so hard lol

Alexisonfire - Pulmonary Archery

Obscure Josh Wink + Reznor collab from the before times that popped to mind a couple days ago.

WINK - Black Bomb

Actually, one more Alexisonfire for the road.

As a certified emo kid since 2001 I love AOF. Their first album is way rougher around the edges than they would eventually become, but it's definitely iconic. I love all of their work really.

What if we just replaced oxygen with swag?

I was a 90s goth kid into industrial, goth, metal, punk, etc. but got into the rave scene in the late 90s and was kinda lost in that bubble until AOF hit it big in Canada. Other than industrial which I've never stopped listening to, AOF single handedly re-ignited my love for heavy music and I got big into metalcore from there. I've never liked genre gate-keeping so it was also really fun to suddenly have normies getting into it too lol. They've evolved really well over the years and their new releases are still really really good. I like how everyone in the band can genuinely play and they don't hold back. Having up to 3 vocalists with different styles all on the same tracks, and making it all fit together, is such a flex.

Some favs from the era

Straight Line Stitch - Remission

Atreyu - Lipgloss and Black

Bleeding Through - Revenge I Seek (the Boondock Saints sample at the beginning is *chef's kiss*)
