Nobody is saying every Irish person is antisemitic. And we do have good relations now. We defend your air space for example  8)

Not to take anything away from the Irish drunkards, but I think top of the line UK beer is better than the best that Ireland has to offer (at least in terms of exports- I'm American and I've never been to either place)

I've actually got a Samuel Smith beer mirror hanging in my office :)

During my drinking career, Guinness Foreign Extra was one I particularly liked.

Not Guinness Extra. Guinness Foreign Extra. It's good for cooking pies with and it's still my ale of choice for cooking.

I only found out about this English one after I retired from drinking which is a shame because I'd love to try it:

A fellow beeradvocate user! My man!  8)

I'm not sure if I've ever had Guinness Foreign Extra...

It tastes like very strong cold coffee. I know that description makes it sound shit but basically it has a lot of flavour. It's a lot stronger than normal Guinness.

Shop by me used to do it £1 a bottle  8)

Honestly, I'm not big on stouts (or porters), but Guinness is very drinkable. My favorite stout is actually from my neck of the woods. A limited run Russian Imperial Stout from New Hampshire's Henniker Brewery, King Mistanthrope. If we had a governor-candidate running that promised to force this brewery to make this beer year-round, they'd have my vote, I don't care about their other plans - put it that way.

Quote from: jimmy jazz on Mar 16, 2025, 08:48 PMI said long history of being labeled antisemitic.

Well yes. But Ireland has been particularly accused of it because of their actions in the Second World War, support for Hitler and collusion with Nazis, not solely because of this spitting incident.

That's all I'm saying.

Your post #209. Others can judge. Moving on.

One guy gets spit on and now Ireland is labeled the most antisemitic nation in Europe.

Ireland has had a long reputation for that going back to the Second World War, their neutrality, and their President's condolences for Hitler when he died.

I have to agree with you. Britain has some great small brews. The campaign for real ale (Camra) has been fighting since the 60's or 70's.

Deej: "Ireland is labeled antisemitic"

Note the word labeled.

Me: it has a long history of that. 'That' being, accusations of antisemitism.

If you or anyone else interpreted it any other way then that's not my problem especially as I've clarified more than once now.

I actually think it's very unfair of Ireland to be labelled anti-semantic. We're a very pedantic people and often sit around for hours in pubs discussing the English language and how variants of it differ. What? You thought we just discussed the GAA and racehorses? You racists, you!

about to make a Irish playlist, of my favorite songs

Nice try!
If the "that" you were referring to was "labeling" or "accusations" as opposed to "antisemitism" itself, then I expect you can supply us with lots of examples of people  "labeling/accusing" the Irish of antisemitism. I won't hold my breath.

I'm spending the day in a leprechaun suit "parading" back and forth over my driveway. No better man! Sure amn't I a great fella altogether?
