May I present the holy grail of psychological literature.

Carl Jung - The Red Book: Liber Novus is a folio manuscript crafted by Jung between 1914  and 1930. Despite being considered the origin of Jung's main oeuvre, it was probably never intended for conventional publication and the material was not published nor made otherwise accessible for study until 2009.

In 2009, with the cooperation of Jung's estate, The Red Book was published in a facsimile edition, complete with an English translation, three appendices and over 1,500 editorial notes.

The enormous text measures 12" x 15.75" closed. (I've included a quarter on the first image for scale.)

I've photographed a selection of 18 page spreads, the cover, and conclude with a sample of the annotated translation from the second half of the book.

An absolute literary treasure.

(I'm like this all the time.)

I was in the area so I dropped by a pop up sale of vinyl and music books at a local pub. Took home a 2026 new book from the 33 1/3 Genre Series titled, 20th Century Ambient. (How could I possibly pass that up?) It will be good to see what other people are writing about my favourite subject.

A delightful surprise and I'll read it cover to cover tomorrow!
