Good morning!

Gonna try to get back to being more active on here, so I made a thread about one of my favorite genres that I don't talk about as much on here. Any era of metalcore is welcome, from the genre's roots in 90s metallic hardcore to the thriving modern scene. I'll kick things off with some current and all-time faves.

I got into metalcore in the spring of 2004 after a high school friend introduced me to Killswitch Engage, who are still one of my favorite bands of all time.

And for some stuff from the more "scene" era, here's a banger from Asking Alexandria. Fun Lexi lore: I chose the name "Alexandria" over any other variation of that name largely because of this band.

Lastly, a modern classic from The Devil Wears Prada, a band that has been crushing it consistently for nearly 20 years. I saw them earlier this year and it was awesome.

I'm gonna try to be more open about my love of whiny scene kid music from now on. I gotta live my truth.  :guitar:

This is pretty good.

I never know exactly what's considered metalcore. Does the Black Dahlia Murder fall into that category? I like them a lot.

Definitely adjacent. I usually hear them described as melodic death metal but they were definitely part of the overall scene, touring with a lot of metalcore bands, and they were super influential on deathcore, which is definitely an offshoot of metalcore.

I like them too, this track was such an absolute monster back when it dropped.

Some recent stuff. 2024 is turning out to be a monster year for metalcore.

The absolute contortions my face made hearing the breakdowns in this one.

This band has been putting out consistently great stuff for a few years now, their new album is full of subtle industrial touches that I really dig.

And of course new Knocked Loose is always a delight.
