Hello friends

We've now been running our little community for two years and we're still going strong. I want to thank all of you who join in and contribute to our community. You've helped us not only make it a digital home for some of us, but a place where people of differing views can have a civil discussion. It's an increasingly rare thing nowadays.

HOWEVER! Hosting costs a bit of molahs. I just paid the bill for the upcoming year. For transparency, it looked like this (although I've removed my own name and address): Invoice for 2024

The sum was roughly 168 USD.

Again, I wanted to give people the opportunity to chip in and so have updated our crowdfunding page:

Any donations made will go towards the hosting of this site and can be made anonymously for those who prefer not to have to sign up to anything.

Some things you should know:

The goal is to pay for the hosting and smooth running of these forums (not to make money or to buy actual coffee). I've set up a crowdfunding goal of 160 USD which about covers the cost of the most recent bill. I don't expect to reach this goal, but am grateful for any help!

On the off chance we raise more than what we need to pay our yearly bill, the extra money will go towards covering the next bill.
For transparency, I'll always share accounting details with you guys.

Also for the sake of transparency - and because our crowdfunding site seems to have removed the result of last year's fundraising when the new goal came up - we raised 161 USD on our 160 USD goal last year, so that's 1 USD excess that's already gone towards covering this year's hosting.

So any excess is always visible, I will deduct it from the 160 USD goal so that it now says 159

It would be churlish indeed of me, as an alleged co-founder, not to dig my hands in my pockets and rattle around for loose change, so I've donated what I can. Sorry it's not more.

About amounts.. I really don't want anyone to feel pressured. I know things are tight for some of you. Don't do anything crazy. The biggest gift is one you've already given which is your presence here, the things you share and your engagement with our community 🙂❤️ that's already more than enough.
