Politics is about having and holding power. If you have power you can deal with "peripheral" issues. To get power you must first deal with the primary issues that affect everybody.

Quote from: Buck_Mulligan on Mar 17, 2025, 05:29 PMMy dream ticket, Emmanuel/Buttigieg. Butti made it clear last week that he will not run for senator or Governor in Michigan his new home state.

Here's an 18 min interview by Walter Isaacson with Rahm Emmanuel that ran recently on Amanpour & Co.
They don't get to the topic of 2028 until near the end, but Emmanuel is straightforward and on brand throughout, such as,
"the Democratic brand is toxic". No excuses, diversion or sugarcoating. Just get the job done.
For those unaware his bio is:
Special Advisor Clinton WH 93 - 98
US House 2003 - 2009 (widely tipped to succeed Pelosi).
Chair DCCC 2005 -2007
Chair House D Caucus 2007 - 2009
Obama CoS 2009 - 2010
Mayor of Chicago (his dream job) 2011-2019
US Amb. to Japan 2022 - 2025
For the periods not listed above he worked on Wall St.
Rahm will be 68 in 2028. Pete will be 54 in 2036.

Pelosi thinks Rahm Emanuel will run for president

President Rahm Emanuel? He Thinks So.

QuoteWe had just sat down in our booth at Pizzeria Portofino, an upscale restaurant on the riverfront he revitalized as mayor, when I asked Rahm Emanuel how he was doing.

"I don't have prostate cancer," he quipped.

There it was. Sharp, funny, a little nasty, a little glib—and aimed directly at the proverbial elephant in the room. Classic Rahm Emanuel.

I had come to Chicago because I wanted to know who was going to lead the Democratic Party out of its doldrums, and there were rumors—more than rumors—that Emanuel wanted to be that guy.

It's sounding to me like you're gonna get your wish @Buck_Mulligan - I think he's definitely running

Barring something unforeseen, I think there's little doubt he will run, he certainly wants to.
