Pulp - This is Hardcore

This Is Hardcore was definitely their best album. And was the proper swan song for Britpop.

Pat Smear tossing the cigarette before riffing. Badass, man.

Was a big tune on the airwaves. Inspired by GB in The Residents thread.

Popularized by its appearance on the Pret-a-Porter soundtrack.

(I'm like this all the time.)

I liked this one from Omar who performed recently on Jazzrefreshed in London. Now I know we often compliment someone how they haven't aged, but this guy is in a different category altogether. Still going strong since the 90s, and performed a Roy Ayers classic.  :-*

Anyone remember this one? Pretty damn 90s if you ask me.

GALA - Freed from desire

What definitely gave this track extra mileage for several years after its release in '96 was the fact that some of the lyrics were hard to make out. For the phrase "he's got his strong beliefs", peeps were coming up with all sorts of suggestions ranging from "he's got his jumpleads" (he must have just broken down!) to "his God is drum police (he must worship percussion inspectors!).

All round good tune.

This is still sampled all the time in house music/mixes.

Good Marley tune from the the '90s. I must admit, as a teen I didn't have a clue what "Zion" was. Some sort of spirit mountain or something. And there was no way of looking it up in those days. You'd have to try and find someone such as a historian or a monk to spread some light on the question.
