No I'm not bored. I have in fact a number of projects I'm working on. But I thought I'd try this. Going to select a random song from my huge digital library (that'll be the domestic one) and then one via YouTube (the foreign one) and then tell you what I think of them, waffling at length, giving you a lot of information you probably won't care about. I know; it's not like me, but I thought I'd give it a go. I'll then see which, if either, wins in foreign v domestic.

For those interested, this is what I'm using to randomly select the "foreign" tracks:

DOMESTIC

Song title: "Dante"
Artist: Farmhouse Odyssey
Year: 2015
Genre: Progressive Rock (well, duh!)
Nationality: American (California)
Taken from: Debut self-titled album
Am I familiar with the genre? Again I say, duh!
Have I heard of the artist before? No
Have I heard the artist before? No
About that, then: Says it's five students and that they have an "improvisational" style of writing. That doesn't sound too good for me, does it? Farmhouse Odyssey got together in 2012 and have currently, at the time of writing, three albums, with their most recent released in 2019.

Comments: See, this is why I need to do the "Foreign" one too. Although I have a pretty eclectic music collection at this point, a very large percentage of it is going to be split between prog rock, metal and AOR, so I need a totally out-of-left-field suggestion to give me something completely different (no pun intended!) to listen to. Okay well this is pretty weird. Sort of high-pitched feedback that goes on for a short while before an acoustic guitar comes in, but the squealing, howling and effects continue. Mind you, what do you expect from a band who call themselves Farmhouse Odyssey? Vocal coming in now but it's very low in the mix and honestly the singer doesn't sound like he knows how to sing. Yeah this is pretty terrible and it runs for seven and a half minutes! Hope it gets better during that time. Well, when they jam instrumentally it's good enough, but that fucker singing can go out to the shed with a shotgun and do us all a favour. Very aptly titled: I feel like I've been through at least three of the Circles of Hell!

FOREIGN

Song title: "Punto G"
Artist: Quevedo
Year: 2023
Genre: Pop rap/Reggaeton/Hip House/Trap
Nationality: Spanish
Taken from: Debut album donde quiero estar
Am I familiar with the genre? Not really
Have I heard of the artist before? No
Have I heard the artist before? No
About that, then: Well, it seems Quevedo is a guy, Pedro Luis Quevedo, and he's big in Spain! Has had 11 number one hits. In Spain. He's only been playing music since 2020 and already has 2 albums, both of which went to number 1 in Spain. Oh, and he's worked with Ed Sheeran, but we won't hold that against him! He's obviously a hard worker, having released almost 50 singles, of which this is his 28th. And he's not even 24 yet!

Comments: Now this is what I mean! Like going back to my Trollheart Listens to Every Album on Wiki's List for 2017 thread! I may hate it, I may like it, but it sure as hell is something new, something I would never have had on my own hard disk and something I otherwise would not have even come close to hearing. Perhaps I'll wish that had remained the case, but sure, that's half the fun, isn't it? Yes. Yes it is. Well all it goes it's not too bad. Good beat and though of course I can't understand any of the lyrics, being a rap style I probably couldn't even if it were in English! Nice video. Short and sweet, and to be honest though I wouldn't listen to it again I wouldn't turn it off if it came on again. Upbeat and cheerful for sure.

Would I listen to more from this artist? I might

Foreign or Domestic, then? In this first round, definitely Foreign.
