Quote from: Trollheart on Dec 04, 2024, 04:11 AMWhy in the name of Satan's portion would they say they were flushable and then tell you not to flush them? Surely that's like saying, oh this vehicle can off-road, but don't ever off-road in it! Reminds me of a client I used to deal with, said "Here's my home phone number, but for god's sake don't ever use it!"  ::)

It doesn't say not to flush them on the packaging. You're just not supposed to anyway.

Quote from: DJChameleon on Dec 04, 2024, 11:43 AMDo the rip test. If they rip as easily as regular toilet paper then it's fine. Usually flushable wipes tend to be slightly stronger than toilet paper and shouldnt be flushed if that's the case. It means they won't break down as easily as TP.

They're a bit more resilient. :(

It's the same argument though. Even if they don't specifically say "don't flush them", they're actually telling you as a buyer that you can, so why then do people say don't do it? No entender senor.

Hopefully they're made of paper / cellulose and so will dissolve.

An aside, but wet wipes are a menace to our wastewater pumps. They get lodged in the pumps and accumulate there, turning into big, ragged lumps that vaguely resemble dead cats or some other hairy animal. Eventually, they completely clog/gum things up and the pumps need to be opened up so you can remove them. It quickly causes pollution when sewage isn't getting to where it needs to go and takes time to fix.. and of course the people fixing it are exposed to sewage with the related risks and everyone prefers less of that.. Unless they have some very strange kinks.

Happiness is a warm manatee

Aw, I thought you were going to say eventually they gain sentience and turn into monstrous wads of papers rolling through the countryside in search of arses to wipe! (Note: remember this for a short story. Note 2: remember to up TH's medication; this could be serious)...

I've noticed there are a lot of superficial feminists that exploit the movement to push bigoted narratives about immigrants being rapists or just blatant transphobia. It's probably just social media amplifying the worst of the worst, as usual.

Regardless, it's still annoying because I care about the movement not just because I care about women but also because I feel like feminism does far more to address problems men face than any men's rights activist does. High jacking that to push a vapid surface level analysis & bigotry gives me the ick.

Hopefully it's just a social media thing. I can always clock them too. Like, they'll accuse everyman that slept with that one girl whom slept with like 100 men in 1 day of being rapists and when you scroll their profile there's always transphobic bullshit and sometimes racist anti-immigrant crap.

yeah this is the same kind of stuff as terfs, probably the same people. very frustrating.
