Fucking arseholes. It seems I was banned - yeah, me! I know! - over FOUR YEARS ago for "breaking the rules". Kind of amazed really, as while I have my own personal style which doesn't, I know, always chime with people, I have rarely if ever done or written anything worthy of a ban. And not just a temporary one either, this is permanent and can't be circumvented by creating a new account (even though they actually suggest this to you as a course of action). So, flabberghasted, I just checked, for the crack, to see if anyone else there has been banned for no reason.

Oh man! Did I ever release the genie from the bottle!

Reading the stories of some of the people there, and why they were banned, the intransigence of the so-called mods and their habit of "muting" appelants so that they can't even reply, makes me sick. MB was a paradise compared to this. I won't ever be going there again. Not as if I can, but if I could, having read what I have in the link below, I would not want to.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Do any of you use Reddit? It seems you can't even make an off-colour joke or reference something obliquely without the ban hammer falling on you! Some of these stories are, well, unbelievable. This is a classic example of people being given power who either have no clue how to exercise that power responsibiy, or have no intention of doing so and instead use it to follow their own agenda, bending and breaking the rules themselves in order to carry out vendettas and harrassment campaigns.

I have a reddit account, but I've probably written fewer than 10 posts all in all. To me, reddit is more for reading than participating 🙂

Happiness is a warm manatee

Honestly, it's worth reading that link to see how thick some people are. Apparently, saying you like JK Rowling is the same as saying you love Hitler, enjoy eating children, abusing women and you are definitely an anti-semite!

No but:

Quote from: jimmy jazz on Apr 08, 2024, 06:15 PMSomeone I was speaking to about music referred to themselves as a goth cunt on their own profile.

I then asked for music recs after we had built a rapport on DM and addressed them as a goth cunt, clearly referring to their profile.

I got reported for harassment and told off by Reddit.

I'd love to speak to that person again and find out what that was all about and why they reported and blocked me.

Also I'll post something completely normal on a thread sometimes and get down voted for it. I'll think what the fuck are you down voting that for? Some proper weird fuckers on there, honestly.

Only God knows.

Pardon my comment being unrelated to your post Jimmy but I read "something completely normal" and subconsciously did a double take, like that was some kind of bizarro version of this forum or something.

"stressed" is just "desserts" spelled backwards

Oh the best thing about this is that they apparently don't explain, or they give you some bullshit excuse (while muting you so you can't reply). Did you read the one about the guy who complimented some girl on her nose job? I mean, what the actual? Best to steer clear of the place. Now that I know what I know, I assume I got banned on day one. Mind you, I don't remember posting anything there, but then, there are stories there too from people who posted nothing and still got banned!
