What's the latest movie you've seen?

Last movie I watched was After Hours, a kinda weird 80s comedy directed by Martin Scorsese.

Paul is having the worst night of his life, but he can't seem to get home. Instead, he has all these run-ins with various characters and unfortunate events.

The movie is weird in that some of the events and dialogue seems a little dreamlike at times. People's responses or reactions may be off and occasionally the direction plays up the weirdness. It never goes full Lynch, though.

There's some fun casting here too, among them Catherine O' Hara and the comedy duo Cheech & Chong. I didn't know they'd played in a Scorsese picture.

It didn't make me laugh much, but it was enjoyable.

Force of Evil (1948)

Another noir thriller. This one is from 1948 and features John Garfield as an attorney who gets in deep with the numbers racket while working for an underworld client.

One thing you should know about me is that I love bad movies. Corny movies, trashy movies, terribly directed movies, you name it. Me, The Boy, and one of my friends have watch parties dedicated solely to Mystery Science Theatering bad movies.

With that in mind, the latest one we watched was 2005's Son of the Mask. I don't use this word often, but that movie is pure cringe. Hated the movie, loved every second of the experience.

You've probably seen Gymkata and Miami Connection then? They're pretty bad-good, though not quite as bad as most MST3K movies.

Speaking of bad movies, here's one I watched a couple of days ago. A horror flick about a group of people who travel to an island infested with zombies. The only brief, worthwhile moments for me were in the soundtrack music. The rest of the film was a bad, goofy disaster.

I've never seen either, actually! Most of my knowledge of pre-90s bad movies is admittedly lacking. I will check them out for sure.

Most of our favorite bad movies to riff on are 90s kids movies, awful sci-fi, and/or corny flop comedies. My personal favorite is Carrot Top's Chairman of the Board, his is Bio-Dome.

I remember Bio-dome, but never seen Chairman of the Board. I'll see if I can find it

Watched 'Its a wonderful life' on Christmas eve

Here's a low-budget sci-fi flick from 1954. I watched it on YouTube under the original title 'Stranger from Venus.' I thought the plot was familiar and after looking into the film, I discovered that it's a knockoff/copy of 'The Day the Earth Stood Still' and even has one of the main cast members from that film (Patricia Neal) in a starring role...

This bit of info From IMDB, sums it up...

The setting of this film is somewhat mysterious. It appears to be England, but the radio has American voices instead of British ones; both the doctor and the barmaid have very English accents, but middle-European names; the police wear uniforms suggestive of eastern Europe (and carry revolvers in a holster); a politician is described as "Secretary of the Interior", a post which does not exist in the British government; there is a reference to "the President", rather than the Prime Minister; and the inn where much of the action takes place seems halfway between an English pub and an Austrian gasthaus.

I'll add that the alien shows up in human form, wearing western clothing and speaking perfect English with a slight Austrian accent. For me, this was a low-budget, close to no-budget stinker of a sci-fi flick.

Oh man. If I watch a really cheap thriller / horror movie, at least I want some cheesy ass special FX. What a letdown.

I haven't yet seen it, but I'm currently trying to figure out how or where I can get a hold of a Norwegian movie that came out last year, Syk Pike which means Sick Girl. The english title given to it is Sick of Myself.

Yeah. It was about as minimalist and boring as it gets. It makes 'Plan 9 from Outer Space' look like 'Star Wars.'

Untamed Women (1952)

This one is in the "so bad it's almost good" category. A WWII bomber crew ditches their plane in the ocean after being hit by enemy flak and 5 surviving crew members in a liferaft end up reaching an unknown prehistoric island inhabited by a primitive tribe of women without any men.
