It's something almost everyone does, so it's not a bad idea to put something about walking into your lyrics: everyone can relate to it.
Here's a walking song to start with - Isaac Hayes's mega reworking of what was originally a 3 min song:-
How many more walking songs can we as a forum come up with ?
(I'm going to say that "Walk" should to be in the title or the chorus, because there's prob an endless number of songs that have a one-line mention of walking somewhere in the verses.)
Gotta go with the classics! Plus it's a happy, uptempo, fun tune for summer. Unless you live in Ireland of course. Summer? Oh yeah: heard tell of that once...
"Walking on Sunshine" - Katrina and the Waves
I've always enjoyed this song, ever since I was a kid. It's funny, even growing up the song always felt older than it actually was; if I was asked to guess when it came out before looking it up I'd have guessed like... 1978 or something, and definitely not 1991. It just has a more classic, vintage vibe to it I guess.
^^^^^^^^^^
Love that song, Lexi. Great great album too.
You get a lot of walking with the Blues.
"Walking By Myself" - Gary Moore
Back to the classics.
"Walking on the Moon" - The Police
Fats Domino - I'm Walkin'

^ New song, even new artist for me: I'm impressed. :thumb:

I didn't expect there to be so many songs with the word "walking" itself in the title ! We have cities Memphis and L.A. mentioned, so I'm proud to add London to the list. (Thanks to Rubber Soul, who introduced me to this band):
Seriously? You have never heard Marc's self-titled album? Remedy, post haste. It's a real unknown classic, hardly a bad track in my opinion. Well worth a listen. Highlights for me: "Silver Thunderbird", "True Companion", "Strangers in a Car", "Miles Away", "Walk on Water"...
Patsy Cline - Walkin' After Midnight
There are different ways to walk. The Bangles liked to do so as an Egyptian
Springsteen thought you should do so like a man
while both Run DMC and Aerosmith agreed on the best way to walk.
^ Nicely linked together, those songs, Trollheart !
Lou Reed recommends taking an adventurous approach to walking:-
While Neil Young emphasises the importance of stamina and duration:-
The Ventures - Walk, Don't Run
I didn't think I would be able to post this gem. I thought someone else would have clocked it already.
Proclaimers - Im gonna be (500 Miles)
Jesse Powell Orchestra with Fluffy Hunter - The Walkin' Blues (Walk Right In, Walk Right Out)
^ Nice! That heavily fuzzed-up keyboard (or so I presume it to be) is irrestistible!

Psy-Fi's
Walking Blues song instantly reminded me of this total ear-worm song from 1963:-

^ This one was much better than I expected, I think because of its natural easy pace, which made me think of a strolling horse.

^ ...and this one was a reminder that I really should check out The Proclaimers: I come across them as recommended occasionally, but I know nothing about them.

This song is just for fun really: it has "walk" in the title, but in most respects is a bit of a cheat, not least because I don't think you can technically be said to be walking, if you are floating around in a space suit, pushing yourself along with thrusters.
I'm glad to see one of Lisnaholic's threads get some real traction for once. Let's keep this thing rolling.
"Don't Walk Away" - ELO
"Walk on Water" - Marc Cohn
"Walk of Life" - Dire Straits
Nancy Sinatra - These Boots Are Made for Walkin'
Another walking song from Fats Domino...
Fats Domino - Walking to New Orleans
Up there with my favourite Blackbyrds songs.

^ I'm not sure how to take that sting-in-the-tail encouragement, Trollheart, but ...er...thanks!
When you go for a walk, you have to choose your company carefully. For Me? Renee is clearly not interested in coming along, so I'm going with God instead:-
Oh I just meant that it seems to me that the threads you start often tend to either get ignored or fizzle out (maybe I'm wrong but this is the impression I have) and this has taken off, so it's nice to see. No ulterior meaning intended. Look at it this way: at least you're not me! Now there's a thought to keep you awake and sweating at night!!
^ HaHa ! It's true I've started various threads that didn't elicit much response. :(
I know that's happened to you too, but you always have another idea ready to be launched, another idea to keep the forum entertained, and entertaining. :thumb:
Making it easy as this one doesn't seem mentioned yet.
I wouldn't mind Nancy, back in the day, taking a stroll on mah bod.
"A Young Man Walks in Brooklyn" by Sxip Shirey.
Nancy was mentioned (Check with Psy-Fi), but sure on we go.
"Walk On" - U2

Dangit.
Alright, something a little more obscure then from Robert Wyatt and Jimi Hendrix.

Hey! It sounds like, at one time, you and me were both members of a small group of just one zillion adolecent boys :thumb:
Here's a real classic that has been overlooked so far :-
The Mighty Mighty Bosstones—"Seven Thirty Seven"It may not be obvious from the title, but the first verse of this song describes the walk from Boston to Central Square in Cambridge, where the band had a post office box. It has a special place in my heart because I did this walk many, many times when I was in college in Boston—not to the post office, but to Central Square, because I used to go to a lot of shows there.
Most people only know Philip Bailey from that hit single he had with his namesake from Genesis, but this is a good one where he needs no help from a bald-headed drummer.
"Walking on the Chinese Wall" - Philip Bailey
Can't say I ever gave a toss about this one or the group but it fits in this thread...
The Four Seasons - Walk Like A Man
Yes Frankie Valli was very annoying wasn't he? Kind of odd to write/sing a song called "Walk Like a Man" and sing it in a high falsetto! Sort of like Metallica doing "I'm Every Woman" or something - hey, now there would be a thing to see!
Gotta go back to the classics, and what's more classic than the Man in Black?
"I Walk the Line" - Johnny Cash
^That's a nice song, Trolls. You beat me to it with 'Walk Like an Egyptian' and 'Walk This Way' a couple of pages ago.
So I revert to more fusiony instrumentals (which can in fact go quite heavy. Okay maybe not metal heavy but definitely fusion heavy).
Cheesy hit from the tail-end of the 1970s. Where are those platform boots guys? Come on: you know you want to!
"A Walk in the Park" - Nick Straker Band
Good call on Johnny Cash's song, TH !
Of your two instrumentals, Saulaac, I really liked
The Cheshire Cat Walk with its trumpet and its keyboard whistles. :thumb:

Selected for your listening pleasure, here's the best and longest version of
Cadillac Walk available on YouTube:-
Honorable Mention : De Ville's
Spanish Stroll too, because we don't have a ruling yet on synonyms for "walk".
Thanks for finding so many "walk" songs, Psy-Fi :thumb:
I feel pretty much as you do about
Walk Like A Man, and tbh wasn't too excited by that Cure track either: what's your opinion of it ?
Here's short song that I assumed would be called "Together", "Sweater" or something like that. In fact it earns its entry into this thread, though the title seems to have been randomly chosen. Spend 2 mins of your life and enjoy Calvin Johnson not mentioning cats or walking:-
Some people struggle with CJ's voice, but I really like the way this song sounds like he's just sat down to have a chat with you about his ex.
Nice, undramatic, self-depreciating finish as well:
What does it matter?

I hadn't heard that Cure song for many years and I'd forgotten what it sounded like. Wasn't one of their better songs to begin with and it hasn't aged well at all in my opinion.
Nearly forgot this one!
"Walk the Dinosaur" - Was (Not Was)
oops
oops, Lexi already posted to Pantera,my bad.
While I think of them....
"Walking Spanish" - Tom Waits
"Walk Alone" - Trust
"Walk Through the Fire" - Peter Gabriel
I'll leave yiz alone now...

Trollheart's Trust song,
Walk Alone, made me think of this song which is super-famous in England as it was adopted as a chant by the fans of Liverpool football team. The song has a message of solidarity in adversity, and is quite moving when sung by a stadium crowd, but here's the original, by Liverpool-born composer, Gerry Marsden:-
(Another poignant gem from Gerry and The Pacemakers was his hit,
Ferry Cross The Mersey, and maybe that fond celebration of his hometown is partly why Liverpool soccer fans chose a song by GM over the more obvious choice of a Beatles song.)
Holy Christ on a Yamaha 6500RX racing without brakes down a one-way street! How did we forget YNWA for so long?? That was one of Karen's favourite songs, and yes, it's very true, total emotion punch to the heart when sung by Liverpool fans in full voice, especially at Klopp's last ever game as their manager. Great pick, Lisna! :thumb:
This is from an actual release in Norway. A buddy of mine has the LP.
It's probably the most untalented music I've ever heard that's actually been published on a physical format.
The Bangles again, this time walking down your street. You should be so lucky!
"Walking Down Your Street" - The Bangles
Guitar classic from Gary Moore and Phil Lynott (both RIP sadly)
"Parisienne Walkways" - Gary Moore (vocal Phil Lynott)
And with many, many apologies (I assumed I'd have some country singer version of it but this is all I got) the man who did for the sales of rocking chairs what Prince did for condoms!
"Walk Tall" - Val Doonican (shut up)
^ I liked the Gary Moore track, TH :thumb:
I laughed to see that you had the good grace to apologise for posting
Walk Tall !! I declined to click on it as I remember what an irritating joke of a song me and my pals considered it to be when it came out. We also didn't take this one very seriously either:-
I wonder who remembers
A Walk In The Black Forest by Horst Jankowski ? Did it register in the US charts? IMO it's also kind of irritating.

Thanks Lisna. It's a real classic. Yes, I paled in terror when I saw the Val come up, but I couldn't find any other versions so I guess it's what you might call rocking chair rock? No? Well anywya, your video didn't come up I'm afraid, so I have no idea what it is. Maybe check and see if there's another version of it?
