QuoteThere's less than one month left in the WNBA season, and it appears one award race is all but over.

That's the market for Rookie of the Year — a spot where bettors could have wagered on either Caitlin Clark or Angel Reese.

Below, let's look at the most recent Rookie of the Year odds at FanDuel Sportsbook as of Aug. 16.

WNBA Rookie of the Year 2024:

Caitlin Clark, Fever: -2000 (bet $10 to win $10.50 total)
Angel Reese, Sky: +700 (bet $10 to win $80 total)

Their teams — the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky, respectively — have faced off three times this season, with Indy holding a 2-1 advantage. They will match up once more on Aug. 30.

However, with Clark's recent dominance on the court, sportsbooks no longer offering ROY odds.

In her last four regular-season games, Clark is averaging 23.5 points, 8.5 assists and 5.5 rebounds.

In addition, her Fever are 3-1 over that span.

Reese has been no slouch herself.

Over her last five regular-season outings, Reese is averaging 13.6 points and 17.6 rebounds. She has a whopping 62 rebounds in the last three games.

However, her shooting is on the decline, as she's converting on just 32% of her attempts in that span.

Reese continues to lead the league in rebounds per game (12.9), while Clark leads the league in assists per game (8.2).

Currently, the Fever are seventh in standings at 14-16, and the Sky are eighth at 11-18. If the playoffs started today, both teams would be in.

The Fever finished the 2023 season at 13-27. The Sky finished at 18-22.

The WNBA, led by its rookie star players, Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese, has experienced a record-breaking year in most categories including in attendance, viewership and merchandise sales. Three new expansion teams - San Fransisco, Toronto and Portland, and a $2.2 billion 11-year media rights deal with Disney, Amazon Prime and NBC are expected to flush the league with cash in the coming years. Yet, player salaries are low in comparison to the NBA and other sports leagues while the league struggles to become profitable. CNBC's Tala Hadavi digs into the WNBA's business model and explores why it may take years before the longest-running women's sport league becomes profitable.
