Activists take that discomfort w/ the status quo & advocate for concrete policy changes. Popular support often starts small & grows. This was pretty spot on except for the bail reform section. When violent crimes are committed they are stuck in jail with no bail. It only applies to smaller non violent offenses that people will get appearance tickets. So people that shoplift and get caught. They get released on an appearance ticket.

That's how I've always understood it but have they changed it to include some more serious charges that wouldn't have been eligible in the past?
Not the most serious ones like rape, attempted murder, or murder, but something like assault for example?

In a country where 61% of people think abortion should be legally available, how did Arizona end up with a Supreme Court making decisions so at odds with what people want? Here's one reason:
In 2016, Republican governor Doug Ducey expanded the Arizona Supreme Court "from five to seven justices. This expansion was criticized at the time by some as court packing."

She said her own struggle to pay rent while running for office captured the problems that working-class people faced."There are so many elected officials that are just not doing a good job at keeping their finger on the pulse," she said.
But centrists remain skeptical that progressives can turn catchy slogans about transformative change into policies that can be implemented. Massachusetts law aims to prevent repeat of Steward Health Care crisis (https://www.cbsnews.com/news/massachusetts-law-steward-health-care-hospitals/)QuotePrivate equity firms that invest in hospitals will now face increased oversight in Massachusetts under a new law signed by Gov. Maura Healey on Wednesday, after the scandal-plagued ownership of nine hospitals in the state exposed significant risks to patient care.
The law comes as a victory for the state after two hospitals closed last year when their owner, Dallas-based Steward Health Care, declared bankruptcy. Steward, which owned more than 30 hospitals across the country, was one of the state's largest hospital operators.
For two years, CBS News has been investigating the detrimental impact that private equity ownership can have on U.S. hospitals — especially those serving areas of high need and few resources. While Steward's hospitals struggled, CBS News found evidence of lavish spending by CEO Ralph de la Torre, including the purchase of a $40 million yacht in 2021, a $7 million Texas horse ranch in 2022, and two corporate jets valued at $95 million.

^ In the interests of balance, I'd like to post this news report which suggests that the New York Post's descriptions of "hated toll" and "spectacularly unpopular" are at best, very misleading:
London has had a similar congestion tax for years, and it is popular*, afaik, because of benefits like better air quality, faster buses and safer streets.
* Of course opinions vary, depending on whether you own a car or not -and presumably also on how much the toll is. To judge by a google search, in London it costs you 15 pounds (= 18 USD) a day to drive into the central area of the city.
Mainly for map nerds:
Spoiler
Also significant is how easily car owners, etc. can make a cross-town journey without going into the Congestion Zone:
