That's an impressive range of drinks, Mindy!

I've never seen those drinks in the shops here, though we do have:-

I occasionally buy a bottle of the pale blue one when I'm hotter or thirstier than usual, but my go to drink at home is:-

Plus juice of one (https://media.istockphoto.com/id/466175634/photo/lemon-fruit-with-half-and-leaves-isolated-on-white.jpg?s=170667a&w=is&k=20&c=6SZtmJKXtcYOXJ3UGVq0gBka4Pwqm_QJPd1ylcj-pag=) Plus three litres of water, thus diluting the quantity of Nestea chemicals I'm ingesting.

It's fun that they named their beverage company Nasty

Dude. That's just Nestea.

Currently sipping hot apple cider which they're doling out free in the cafeteria today.  The clove and cinnamon stick spicings are so comforting and the cider very fresh and without sugar - delicious.   :)

I went back to get a second helping!  It is really delicious.  I love British pubs and agree it's so nice to have those pulled ciders on tap.  Cheers, Marie!

Yes, I remember when you said you had the Ito En in packets!  I'll have to check for Meta Moon at the store - thanks for the tip!

Have a splitting headache right now (it'll be gone soon enough), so just downed three Advils with the iced chai latte made by the barista here.

Poppi *healthy* prebiotic soda over ice, Raspberry Rose flavor.  I like rose-y flavored things, and this tastes more of roses than raspberries.

Looking good, @ribbons 🙂 I also like rise flavor.

I've been guzzling a bit of our probiotic lately, our homemade kombucha which is so tasty and refreshing ❤️

Yesterday, I bought this tonic:

So might be my treat for tonight, although I really shouldn't drink sugary stuff when I'm sick.

I love Schweppes Russian, so hoping it's similar.

Feel better soon, @Guybrush !

I had my second drink of the year last night, the couple whose home we held the ceremony at gifted us with a really nice merlot and I ended up having a glass and then almost immediately falling asleep, lol.

Thanks, Mrs. Waffles 😊 and as a 10+ years teetotal, red wine is the thing I miss the most (though I'll sometimes have a tiny sip of whatever my wife's having).

Thanks, @ribbons ! I think the fever part and the coughing part is mostly over, so getting better 🙂

And weird that you're not familiar with Schweppes Russian as I thought it was the sort of product you'd find anywhere, but maybe not?

It's simply a raspberry flavored tonic from Schweppes.

The fever tree thing was like the very watered down version of this. Lacked bite, but very refreshing 🤔

@Guybrush, glad you're starting to feel a bit better but sorry to learn you were dealing with a fever and cough - that's always unpleasant.

Kudos to you on the 10+ years teetotal.  I'm not a big wine drinker at all (it irritates my stomach), but if I do drink wine I'll have pinot noir.  Have you or @Mrs. Waffles ever seen the film Sideways?  "Don't drink the Merlot!"  ;)   Whenever the subject of Merlot comes up I always think of that line now.

Tore, I'm not sure we have anything called Schweppes Russian here.  We have Schweppes Raspberry Ginger Ale, but that's a completely different beverage.
Title: Re: What are you drinking?
Post by: Lexi Darling on Nov 07, 2023, 12:08 AM
@ribbons , I've never seen Sideways, actually.

I'm honestly not the biggest alcohol drinker myself (and congrats on the 10+ years, @Guybrush !), though through the mister I do know a fair bit about it. I also love a good pinot noir, my go-to red wine as well.
Title: Re: What are you drinking?
Post by: Guybrush on Nov 07, 2023, 12:18 AM
I used to love a good Cabernet Sauvignon next to some powerful good cheese with perhaps bread or crackers, jelly or honey and maybe some nuts or grapes. It was a monthly ritual for a while.

I stopped drinking alcohol because it makes me real sick (more than just hangovers) and I didn't want to have to deal with it, but it is possible that I can tolerate some things. However, it's just been easier to say no to all of it.
Title: Re: What are you drinking?
Post by: ribbons on Nov 07, 2023, 12:32 AM
Mrs. Waffles, if I have pinot noir it's always with food - otherwise it gives me a tummy ache.  :(

Tore, I admire your willpower in swearing off alcohol - you are to be commended for that.  ;)

Alcohol almost always makes me feel ill as well.  Fortunately, I don't crave it.  There were also alcoholics in my immediate family, so it's definitely for the best I don't imbibe much.
Title: Re: What are you drinking?
Post by: Lexi Darling on Nov 07, 2023, 12:49 AM
Yeah, I quit for a few reasons: for one, I'm terrible at holding my alcohol and most of the time turn into an obnoxious goof after even just one glass of just about any drink I actually enjoy. And I always drank pretty much anything with food.

I also spend so much time awake and active that I'm already pretty tired and kind of losing it a bit by the evening; adding alcohol would make me lose it even more, haha. And neither of us wanted that, so as of January 2023 it's a no-no for me, with only a couple exceptional situations.

Alcohol loosens my social inhibitions and after about two drinks I become more outgoing (and probably more interesting, lol!).  Once I go past two drinks I start getting *sad*, and that's when I need to stop.  It's funny, even when I've become intoxicated in the past, I always was aware of what I was doing - and usually wound up taking care of the other intoxicated people around me, lol.

If I go out and do have a drink it's usually a Margarita with salt (unfortunately I love those), or a Mojito.  But I need to stop at one or two.

Polar Diet Double Fudge soda over ice.  Full of bad stuff, but I have this every so often.  It's in the kosher section of the cafeteria.

Back when I drank margaritas were one of my go-tos as well. I also liked a good Bloody Mary, I loved sangria, all good stuff.

I actually was being tutored in drink mixing by a friend earlier this year. The mister enjoys a pretty wide variety of cocktails, classic stuff like martinis, Manhattans, etc, but also a lot of random stuff he just finds online and I have to work with the recipes and instructions I'm given, haha.

Ooh, that's actually a good idea! Maybe we should have a recipe sharing thread for all manners of food and drink. Anyone can feel free to start something like that.

That's so interesting you were tutored in drink mixing by your friend, Mrs. Waffles!  I think certain cocktails are absolutely beautiful and there is definitely an artistry to their creation.  Sometimes I've enjoyed just watching mixologists creating cocktails, mulling herbs and other ingredients in a mortar and pestle, etc.

I like a good Bloody Mary too, mainly for brunch - but not the hot and spicy Bloody Marys with tabasco sauce.  I like a classic Bloody Mary with crunchy black peppercorns as the star of the show.   8)

My father likes Macallan. I found it a bit too raisin-y, but maybe they also make whiskys that are not aged in sherry casks? I haven't really checked that out.

I've never seen Poppi before but the prebiotic soda that I consume every once in awhile is called Olipop.

Also those Fever Tree drinks are good well the ones I have had so far. I had the ginger beer types.

This is what Olipop looks like,

also as I was writing this post I went to the fridge and I guess my MIL bought some but there is a can of Poppi in the fridge. I have never seen it before it was mentioned in this thread and voila there it is in my proximity.

That's funny your MIL put a Poppi in the fridge, DJ.  I'm addicted to the Poppi Raspberry Rose* flavor.  The only Olipop I've tried so far is the Ginger Lemon (I love anything ginger) but that Blackberry Vanilla one looks good.  Will have to try that.

I dislike root beer in general, so I've not been tempted to try the root beer Olipop - which I guess is a good thing!

Now drinking Natalie's grapefruit juice over crushed ice.  I love grapefruit juice, and this brand is a bit less bitter than others.  Very refreshing.

I love grapefruit juice too! I never remember to put it on my grocery list for some reason. I'll see if I can find that brand.

My go-tos for juice are apple and cranberry. I also have a V8 occasionally; I actually like those a lot, but I could not imagine drinking them super regularly as just an everyday drink with meals.

I usually have diet soda, juice, milk or some other flavored stuff with meals, but when I'm just doing my household routine I drink a lot of water. These days I stick to drinking at least three 16 ounce bottles per day (often it ends up being four on average) which is generally no problem for my level of activity.

And as for right now, I'm currently drinking a bottled Frappuccino while I wait for my work shift to begin. :)

I like cranberry and apple juice as well (especially apple cider - including the hot, spiced variety!) and I haven't had a V8 in such a long time.  I do like it, but as you mentioned, it's not something I would drink with meals.  It's almost a meal in itself and I find it filling.  I drink almost all cold drinks with ice, including milk.

Just returned from the barista with an iced Chai Latte - it's very good!   :D

Thank you! It was certainly refreshing. Glad you are enjoying your chai latte as well!

Apple cider is great! I am planning to have some sparkling apple cider as a non-alcoholic option at the Christmas party, in fact. As far as party drinks go, back when I was underage I would always have a Shirley Temple at our old family Christmas parties, so now that I'm not drinking in most situations I think I'd love to bring that tradition back and have that at the party.

I've never used ice with milk, but I drink exclusively skim milk and I think a frosty glass of that with ice actually sounds really good! I'd love to try it, I'm making a lemon chicken dish with a side of peas tonight, I think it might go well with that. Thanks for the shout!

We always have Martinelli's sparkling apple cider at Christmas, Mrs. Waffles!  And Shirley Temples are a great idea for your party.  Maraschino cherries!  I used to feel grown up if someone gave me one of those.  I remember once about age 6 I was out with my grandfather on errands and he surreptitiously stopped in a bar (unbeknownst to grandma, who didn't want him to drink) to see his friends - and they propped me up on a stool and gave me a Shirley Temple and made a bit of a fuss.  I was staying at my grandparents that night, and as my grandmother was putting sponge rollers in my hair at bedtime (ha!) she asked what I and my grandfather did while we were out, and I absentmindedly (and sleepily) said, "Oh, I had a Shirley Temple...".  I knew immediately that I had made a big mistake (he told me earlier not to mention to grandma ???) and all hell broke loose after that! :o  It became a funny family story later on but wasn't at all funny at the time.

Skim milk's good with ice cubes - I drink that sometimes, and also 2% with ice.  I usually use 2% because I don't care for skim in cereal.  Dinner tonight sounds delicious, Mrs. Waffles - enjoy it with hubby!!

Something that must be a lot more fun in the US is all the options. Today, I got a craving for cranberry juice. It used to be Ocean Spray was the only one available - and not at every store either. Now I had an extra, cheaper store brand option as well, but went with Ocean Spray.

It's nice with ice. Wonder if it might be good to mix it with tonic 🤔

Tore, you tastemaker, I just returned from the cafeteria with cranberry juice in hand.

I guess you're right - we do have a lot of brands here in the USA! USA!

Now drinking this on ice.  Never had this particular Langers brand before, and it is very tart! ???

First time I'm drinking Olipop's Strawberry Vanilla flavor.  Far too sweet for me.  So far I haven't liked the Olipop flavors much.  I think I'll stick to my favorite, Poppi's Raspberry Rose flavor, from now on.

Love this and drink it often.  Usually get it at the cafeteria at work, but may start stocking a bit of it at home.

When it comes to Cranberry juice. I like straight up Cranberry but I tend to opt for Cran Apple or Cran Mango.

The one with lime is great also but I haven't seen that specific one in awhile and yes Ocean Spray brand.

Yes, with Cranberry juice, especially if it's the "pure" type, it helps to have another juice mixed in to offset the tartness.  I like Cran Grape.  Funny, I love Grape juice, but on its own sometimes it upsets my stomach; yet Cran and Grape together is fine for me.  And whatever juice I'm drinking, I must add ice cubes to water it down.

Now drinking Teas' Tea green tea on ice.

I used to get cranberry apple a lot in my college era, now I've got a hankering for it again, thanks @DJChameleon @ribbons !

Today I woke up pretty early and I have a lot of work to do so this morning the mister said I could have a monster. So I'm currently drinking this.

Ooh, Mango Loco

Went to a British tea restaurant yesterday and drank a whole pot of caffeinated Earl Grey.  Should have asked for decaf, because I was up until 4:00 am!  Fortunately I'm working remotely this week (along with all other staff) pre-Thanksgiving.  It's nice to work in pj's.  :)

Thanksgiving day I got my day drinking on with some scotch and smirnoff ice in Tall Boy cans.
