Irish Gaelic slam poetry... nice but sometimes you just need heavier beats and more n bombs

Gotchu covered:
What's my favorite word?
Such a classic.
Heck yeah, high school vibes. I've always had love for mid-aughts crunk and club rap.
One of my favorite Dilla beats
Quote from: SGR on May 17, 2023, 11:06 PMNow that's old school!
It sucks that song isn't on Spotify though
It's a Digital Underground kind of morning at Casa Mrs. Waffles. RIP Tupac, RIP Shock. The funk lives on.
Edit: I just realized I never noticed Eazy E and Dre making cameos in this video, whoa.
Speaking of Dre, I think his best production effort might actually be NWA's second album. If you can ignore some of the more 'questionable' lyrics, the beats are absolutely awesome.
Quote from: SGR on May 19, 2023, 11:48 PMSpeaking of Dre, I think his best production effort might actually be NWA's second album. If you can ignore some of the more 'questionable' lyrics, the beats are absolutely awesome.
SOC may have had more of an impact but the 2nd one is definitely better to listen to. The beats on SOC sound rushed and inferior in comparison.
I'd stop short of calling it his best production effort though. It'd 4th or 5th and it's certainly not above The Chronic or Doggystyle. Compton is probably better than it as well.
I can see myself agreeing that it's his best pre-G-funk era work. But production wise I still think Doggystyle is his masterpiece.
Good point, I may have gotten too excited. Doggystyle is probably better (but only by a hair). Chronic though? Ehh....

Bruh how you gonna listen to NWA and ignore the lyrics? They are what they are meant to be, don't pussyfoot.
Dre is hit/miss for me. But this beat is poisonous - I used to fuck UP the floors of the coffee shop with a mop to this back in the day, so hype.
I just stumbled across these guys today for the first time.
Very Beastie Boys aesthetic to them. I have to check out more of their work.

That fish eye lens in the thumbnail is a dead giveaway that the Beasties were a big inspiration. The second rapper definitely seems to be trying to replicate Mike D's style. Not bad though.
I'm a huge Jack Harlow fan boy lately, TikTok put me onto one of his other songs and I just keep hearing hit after hit from him.
I'm fully on board much more than Post Malone. I thought Posty's last album was trash.
I love that Tik Tok brings back songs like this and opens it up to a newer generation that missed out on it the first time around.
Possibly my favorite Brotha Lynch song:
30 secs in.
😂😂😂😂😂 He's nailed that Londoner impression. Brilliant.
It's from his before the last album but I still love it. I love this. He's such a kind human. If you look into him, he's the sweetest, kindest star.

Funny but I hard disagree about his opinion on UK hip hop.
I think he's got a point but obviously it's exaggerated.
Don't really like Dave tbh.
Cas is the guy for me these days.
Speaking of British rappers...
Aaron recently said some random off-the-cuff thing that reminded me that this song happened, like holy shit I haven't thought about it in at least 3 years.

Haha, love it.
The thing he said that reminded me was so random, he was pointing out the nose on some weird animal that was on some tv thing he was watching, and he said something like "look at the nose", and he said it with the exact cadence that made my brain immediately go to "nose long like garden hose".
The kind of shit that sticks with you, haha.
This is great. This beat is better than the original.
I like how simplistic this video is and how it highlights hooligans.
This song hits close to home for me especially while dealing with my "friend" that only contacts me when he needs me to do something for him.
This has been on repeat since I discovered it 30 mins ago.

No it's a double entendre. He meant to say it that way to reference both of them in one bar. The Joel Osteen reference is to take shots at how much of a fraud he is and the Haley Joel Osment are for the movie references.

I dunno, seems like a bit of a stretch to me. And if that was the intention it's still a very confusingly written bar.

It's a quintuple entendre even, exactly what Drake asked for.
It's not a stretch when every line is thickly layered.

This all goes back nearly a decade. Essentially the "beef" started when Drake got his feelings hurt over Kendrick's verse on a Big Sean track.
QuoteI heard the barbershops be in great debates all the time
'Bout who's the best MC: Kendrick, Jigga, and Nas
Eminem, André 3000; the rest of y'all
New niggas just new niggas, don't get involved
And I ain't rockin' no more designer shit
White T's and Nike Cortez, this red Corvette's anonymous
I'm usually homeboys with the same niggas I'm rhymin' with
But this is hip-hop, and them niggas should know what time it is
And that goes for Jermaine Cole, Big K.R.I.T., Wale
Pusha T, Meek Millz, A$AP Rocky, Drake
Big Sean, Jay Electron', Tyler, Mac Miller
I got love for you all, but I'm tryna murder you niggas
Tryna make sure your core fans never heard of you niggas
Everyone else mentioned took it for what it was - a moment for the culture, calling for competitiveness and the pursuit of greatness, rather than "rich-ass white bitches looking for parties."
So yeah, Drake was like "I thought we were friends" lol and that was the genesis of the "beef" - which I put in quotes because Euphoria is the first time Kendrick has acknowledged it at all, despite Drake begging for a response for years lol.
Cheers <3
Has Drake done a tune for him? Kendrick released another one a few hours ago?
I have been on a field trip all day and haven't heard it lol, but yes Drake has sent many attention-seeking shots in all directions, all about as tedious as the post history of you know who.

Amazing, once again the tedium has turned into victimhood.
Love this video and spectacular ending. I still like Megan even though I sided with Nikki during their beef.
Haha I love the early 2000s nods. Mall goth fashion, Dance Dance Revolution, the freaking Gwen Stefani sample, omg.
I love Megan too. There was so much low-key moody rap in the mainstream back when she first got super huge that I appreciated that she brought the straight bangers.
The concept for the video is a reference to that one horror movie stay alive where if you die in game you die in real life. Scott Pilgrim references, Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter references. Loads of different video game references in that video.

Vultures 2 suffers from sounding like b sides but in a bad way. The whole album feels like fillers. I'm on my second playthrough and I only like 2 tracks out of like 16.
