Volbeat - Temple of Ekur
Volbeat - Step Into Light
Dschinghis Khan - Hadschi Halef Omar
Typical. Only back a wet day and he has to have more than one journal! I mean, who does that?

Wet day?? You sayin' i pee my pants? Not that you're wrong but...well. I'll stop talking.
Cradle of Filth - Trinity of Shadows
Nah, it's an Irish expression. "A wet day" means a very short time, as in "I'd only been in the job a wet day before I got promoted" or "He hasn't been playing in the team for a wet day and sure he scored a hat trick." Oh, those Irish idioms! Soft day, thank god!
Also, "Key's picks"? Someone picking your lock?

Well
you're a wet day
Damn, I hadn't even realized that about the title but now it makes it even better
You could also have called it "Unlocking Key's Music" or "Turning the Key"... How about "Music in the Key of Life"? Stevie who?
Volbeat - Lasse's Birgitta
I must admit, I've been becoming more and more jaded with symphonic metal bands - Within Temptation, Epica, Edenbridge, Leaves' Eyes, Nightwish - they're all starting to sound the same to me. If I hear another female singing operatically while someone does an unclean vocal, I think I may cut my head off with a blunt spoon.

I'm very much the same way. A lot of times I don't even pay much attention to the female opera like vocals. I'm usually focused more on the heavy guitar licks and instrumentals in the background. But it's definitely one of those styles of genres that I'm pretty tired of save a few bands that I still listen to.
It's kind of the same with power metal - heard one band, heard them all. But there's something more, I don't know - fun? about PM. SM just seems too up itself, takes itself too seriously, almost like goths versus punks or something. I always imagine (though I've never seen one) a Nightwish or Within Temptation gig being very heavy on dark colours, smoke, pale makeup and gothic imagery, whereas I envisage power metal more as backdrops of fantasy scenes, battles and a more light-hearted view. I'm sure of course there are power metal bands who take themselves very seriously, but not as seriously I think as your Epicas et al. Often, when WT or Epica or NW come up on my playlists I just roll my eyes and reach for the skip button.

Ever heads of Wind Rose? I think you'd really dig em. They don't take themselves too seriously and they sound amazing.
Their Trollslayer album they released in 2024 is a regular spin for me.
King Zebra - Under Destruction
King Zebra - Wall of Confusion
New Kids On The Block - Bring Back The Time
This band may be my favorite new discovery of 2025
Messa - Thicker Blood

Yeah, decent stuff. I get vibes of pirate/viking metal mixed with maybe power and folk, and obvious themes of fantasy/LOTR/GOT. What's their deal? Are they supposed to be dwarves? Yer man is the biggest dwarf I ever saw, if so. You ever heard Alestorm?
SATCHVAI - The Sea of Emotion pt 1
Disarmonia Mundi - Outcast
