Let's play a music game! I assure you all my degree from the Trollheart School of Music Games is fully legit.
So I'll post a made-up name for a band that would be the opposite of the name of a real band. Then you all guess which real band it's the opposite of, and then once it's guessed and approved by the original poster, the person who guessed correctly makes up their own "opposite band". Feel free to get creative with the words you "opposite-ify". I'll start:

It's not Nickleback either. Nor is it The Gurners. :P :o

John Viscount and the Princes and Princesses
The only band coming to mind is Christine and the Queens, but I don't think they're well known outside of France.
Could you add a hint or two, TH? Is it a literal one, i.e. in the spirit of "Jeanne McVities and the Peasants and Shoe Polishers"?
All I'll say is that John Viscount usually performs alone under his own name, the Princes and Princesses are his band but not normally mentioned (think Nick Cave/Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds) and we're talking just a regular guy here, who does it the hard way down Copperhead Road. If that don't give it away, well, shoot, you're all a buncha Johnny Come Latelys.
I was never very good at the long band names, so I probably won't get this one but will keep thinking.
Unless it's Mike and the Mechanics? I'm sure they would have been up for a bit of hard-wiring with a bit of copper.
Negatory, good buddy. Think more American. Think more country.
One last clue: The revolution starts now, apparently.
Okay, so I won't propose Gil Scott and the Herons.

The acting Inspector General of the Defense Department will review Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth's use of Signal in a group chat with other key national security officials to discuss military strikes against the Houthis in Yemen last month, the IG's office announced on Thursday.
In a letter to Hegseth, Acting Inspector General Steven Stebbins wrote that the objective of the IG's "evaluation" is to determine whether Hegseth and other Pentagon personnel "complied with DoD policies and procedures for the use of a commercial messaging application for official business."

Dexys are short for something which people take to stay up all night. Ovaltine is historically something people take if they wish to hit the sack pronto.
For 30 years I thought Dexy was short for "Dexter". Until yesterday. What am I like, lol!
Okay, I knew what Ovaltine is/was, like kind of hot chocolate or cocoa you take at night (never liked it myself) but had no idea there was a product called Dexys.
Yes, dexy is slang for dexamphetamine pills, which a lot of the people in the club scenes in the 70s and 80s used to fuel their all night clubbing. In particular I believe they were very into Dexedrine which is in the same class as meds like Adderall and Vyvanse that are prescribed for ADHD, but less diluted and thus more rarely prescribed by psychiatrists.
I know this stuff all too well as a former amphetamine addict. Perhaps you could have called me Dexi Darling back then, hehe.

I didn't have a clue about Dexys either, but I asked google why Dexys:
QuoteWhy is it called Dexys Midnight Runners?
The band's name was derived from Dexedrine, a brand of dextroamphetamine used as a recreational drug among Northern soul fans to give them energy to dance all night.

I remember reading about your previous speed habits, Lexi, and I when I was writing about Dexy and Dexter, I did indeed think of Lexi and Lexter. Lexter Darling has a great ring to it

^ Thanks!
I think mine are pretty easy this time, so I'm going to go with a two-fer if that's ok. These bands, both from the same era, have a pretty similar musical sound too: guess one and you're likely to simultaneously guess the other as well:-
Band 1: The Periods of Calm Weather
Band 2: The Lights
I'm assuming the second one is The Darkness? First one eludes me for the present...
^ Actually, no, Trollheart: not quite that literal, and also The Darkness is not a band I've heard of. The heyday of these bands pre-date Pentangle by about 5 yrs I should think. Pretty popular at the time, I never hear them mentioned on SCD, as their sound is a bit dated.
Is the first one The Tornados?
Ooh, and the second has to be The Shadows, right?
That's right, Lexi: both correct. :thumb:
To the extent that I'm interested in their music, they both sound about the same to me. Can anyone tell them apart, I wonder ?
