Title: Lexi's Daily Affirmations
Post by: Lexi Darling on Nov 18, 2024, 02:59 AM
Good evening everyone. I wanted to try to spread a little positivity in times like these, so I am making a simple journal I can update regularly without feeling like I have to write a lot, as I so often do. So I've decided that every day going forward I am going to try to post a quote, post, or piece of writing that I find inspiring, as well as at least one positive thing about my day. So without further ado, here is my first entry.

Daily Affirmations: Day 1 (11/17/24)

Today I went through some of my wardrobe to pick out clothes I don't wear at all anymore and set them aside to hopefully sell or donate. One of my oldest and dearest internet friends who is around the same size as me has expressed interest in taking a look at some of them, so we will be corresponding about that soon.

Good idea, Lexi. As Roger Waters once wrote, "each small candle lights a corner of the dark."

Daily Affirmations: Day 2 (11/18/24)

I went to a doctor appointment today for testing, and to discuss some HRT related things in preparation for my bottom surgery consultation on January 14th. The doctor was not the one I usually see, she was unavailable so I took an appointment with a different doctor. The doctors I work with are generally people I know well enough that they mostly refer to me as Alexandria or Lexi, but this doctor kept it professional, shook my hand and called me "Mrs. Fitzpatrick", which I should be used to by this point as it's been a full year, but I still feel so very warm and fuzzy and proud when I am referred to in that way.

Nice thread, @Lexi Darling.. Or should I say Mrs. Fitzpatrick 🙂 I will keep an eye on it.

Daily Affirmations: Day 3 (11/19/24)

Today I got approved to start volunteering at a local library starting next week. I like helping my community and I do sometimes run out of things to do at home on some weekdays so spending a couple hours a couple times a week should do me good. Hopefully it will also help for my resume if things get too financially tight here and I need to return to the workforce. I'm sure I will enjoy working in the quiet library environment.

Daily Affirmations: Day 4 (11/20/24)

I'm taking today to deep clean some areas of the house I've been putting off. My sister is in town for the next two weeks, and while she isn't staying with us, she wants to come over to take a look at some of the clothes that I'm getting rid of. I make it a priority to have our home in tip top shape whenever we have company; I do consider homemaking to be my job, and it's been a while since I had the energy to really dedicate myself to it, so I am feeling very good to get back on the ball with that.

I was so busy yesterday that I didn't get a chance to do one of these, so I'll do two today to make up for it.

Daily Affirmations: Day 5 (11/21/24)

The mister got a coupon on a food app, so last night we got sundaes from Dairy Queen and had those while watching a livestream. It was a very cozy night.  :)

For some reason the image in my last post isn't showing up on my end, could anyone confirm if they can see it?

Daily Affirmations: Day 6 (11/22/24)

Mr. Darling and I went out clubbing tonight, though he spent much of it chumming around with some people talking about some Dungeons and Dragons stuff while I sipped cocktails with a couple of my gal pals. I met a trans woman who recently moved here and we exchanged contact info so that will hopefully be fruitful; I don't really know that many other trans people IRL, surprisingly enough. We talked for a bit about how both of us have bottom surgery coming up and congratulated each other. I had a lovely night!

Daily Affirmations: Day 7 (11/23/24)

Today Aaron and I outlined a list of points we wish to discuss with my sister about the practical realities and details of moving to Australia; tomorrow we'll be spending the whole day hanging out with her and will have lots of time to go over those points. I want to really knuckle down and brainstorm, weigh the pros and cons of deciding to leave the US, and cover the bases like employment, housing, transportation of our belongings, etc that will be necessary to iron out should we end up making that journey. So we worked together to make a basic outline for that, and it definitely felt good to make some headway on it, even if it's all hypothetical for now.

Daily Affirmations: Day 8 (11/24/24)

Yesterday I got to spend some good quality time with my sister, I made a nice late breakfast for her, my mom and my husband and spent much of the rest of the day just hanging out and decompressing a bit. I think I really needed a day like that.

Are you thinking about moving or is it more like a plan C if things get harder?

The current plan is to make a case for asylum if the Trump administration/SCOTUS enacts policies that directly target trans people to bring us harm. The Australian policy mentions that they may grant refugee status to groups who have experienced persecution in their home country; whether they'll grant it or not, who knows. I have a buffer of hormones in case I need them during a transitional period. In the meantime we're also looking out for potential opportunities for a work visa.

At this point though, with so many countries' governments turning more right wing, I've also steeled myself for the possibility that nowhere in the world is truly safe. Not doomsaying or anything, just a sobering thought that has been setting in.

I'm going to be reviving this journal in a more limited capacity. It won't be everyday, but just a general place to share things that inspire me.

I'd like to begin by sharing something I saw a friend of a friend say.

It just really resonated with me, and it's especially relevant to where I'm at right now in terms of the ways of socializing that I want to strive for.
