It's similar to how in my city we have a street called Dubios and it's not pronounced duh bwoh but it's just duh boys with the s. If you said it the french way to a taxi driver they would have no idea where you are talking about.

As a Wisconsinite I love hearing people from way out of state try to pronounce Weyauwega or Oconomowoc or Ashwaubenon.

A very dear and close friend of mine is from Sheboygan County, Wisconsin.

If I hadn't heard him say it, I probably would've mispronounced it. :laughing:


in the south of england there's a place called Beaulieu and the english pronounce it as 'byewlee'. whoever came up with that wasn't even trying
