here's where i get sensitive

when some rich yuppie cunt who has gone through five automobiles during that time starts up with this we need to transition shit

i've kept my car running and i'm not spending $40 K now

i mean people actually think they're more environmentally inclined when they've had multiple cars manufactured in their service while i've been doing my best with a good local mechanic

and when i feel like i'm getting judged and shit that hits me really fucking wrong especially when it's from someone who can afford whatever the fuck it is they're driving

Well, we drove an old car from the 90s that we'd gotten from my parents. They'd tried selling it, but nobody wanted it. When the exhaust started falling out, we scrapped it.

The electric is the only car we ever bought. When we needed a car nr. 2, we bought bikes instead.

So we're doing some things at least to keep our carbon footprint down.

However, to really make an impact, it'd be more useful to invent a greener asphalt or concrete or just regulate pollution from businesses (my previous job, actually).

Honestly, it's kind of offensive (or at least disappointing) to me that we lie to black people like this. Why can't we just tell them the truth instead of acting like this is a serious consideration? It's never going to happen - it's just too far. And the governor of California, Gavin Newsom, knows it's too far - and given that he seems to have national ambitions (running for president), giving out cash payment reparations for slavery would completely ruin his chances - but instead of just saying the quiet part out loud, he strings black people along like he really is considering it.

Black people: Because slavery was horrible and unjust, we should be compensated for our ancestors' suffering

White people: Oh yes, that makes complete sense! Let's set up a committee task force to see just how much money it would be

Black people: Okay, we'll get right on that!

White people: Sounds great, let us know what you find!
