Absolutely.

I know plenty of guys I work with (and am friendly enough with to joke around with them) that have them - and I always joke around with them when the moment is opportune that the SUVs they drive are for 'soccer moms'. It's lighthearted enough to not be truly insulting but just true enough to make them self-conscious about it.

America has an identity which lends itself to devaluing or even stigmatizing the value and worth of social stigma and ostracism. The 'fuck what you think, I'll do what I want' attitude - but I think it still has its place. Corporations don't care beyond making a profit (which sometimes involves following laws and regulations). But if we as a society decide something is bad, mockery/stigma isn't a bad recourse.

I only watched the video about half way through and I was half asleep but is there an element of these SUVs being the most practical choice on the market? It's all well and good shaming people for driving them but if they can't afford a smaller vehicle or it isn't available then I dunno.

the private automobile is an unsustainable disaster so to me it's like the rapists pointing at the murderers

same with sober drivers getting all judgmental on drunk drivers

sure driving drunk is more dangerous but driving sober is also dangerous as fuck

but people who drive small energy efficient economical cars and follow all the safety laws absolutely refuse to accept that they too are a big part of the problem and only slightly better compared to a drunk in a pick up especially when compared to a cyclist or pedestrian
