I think it stems from Antifa's ideological roots in marxism. It presents a paradigm of 'oppressors' vs 'oppressed'. And in viewing himself and those muslim women as 'oppressed', he figured they'd agree with him.

I think that's a bit of a generalization. You can be against fascism and not be a Marxist. The only ideology antifa has in common is "fascism is bad".

But yeah, I, along with most trans people I'd imagine, understand that many other marginalized groups hate us just the same as every other walk of life. As an out trans person for 20 years I know better than to assume allyship.

Its just as someone who is from a place where this is a bit of a hot potato it is hilarious to me he thought they'd side with him.

Only God knows.

Sure, but I don't necessarily think antifa is against fascism, just because it's in their name and they like to self-style themselves as such. Their behavior and actions are practically no different than the fascist brownshirts of the '30s.

I don't doubt that there are some people who are like what you describe. But there are also people who are just... against fascism. In my experience antifa is a much broader category than you seem to give it credit for.

I'm staunchly against fascism, you're not going to convince me that anti-fascism is equally bad, so we might as well nip this in the bud lol.

Hell is other fascists.

That would be some political viewing worth watching.

That Teamster President looks soft and out of shape. Senator Mullin looks like he could give him a thorough smack down.

The Teamster President has like a mob vibe to him. I think he would immediately look for the nearest object for a weapon to use and go to town on Senator Mullin. All I know is that it would be an awesome fight.

I was this cool the whole time.

Does Buffy Sainte-Marie actually have indigenous North American ancestry? https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-67351680

It's quite a long article that seems to conclude. "No, but yes"

The "No" part is alarming as it implies that a folk icon and spokeswoman for indigenous rights/pride was all the while indulging in "cultural appropriation".

What you desire is of lesser value than what you have found.

I read the CBC News story on this and she's definitely a fraud. Her real name is Beverly Jean Santamaria. I've lost count of how many white people I've met in North America throughout my life who've claimed to have some American Indian ancestry. It seems to have started in the 60's and became a trendy thing to claim for some people. Unlike most of those I've met, who tend to look whiter than a blizzard in January, at least "Buffy" looks like she could pass for the role of an American Indian in a movie or TV show.

Who is the real Buffy Sainte-Marie?

Santamaria

QuoteSantamaria (also spelled SantamarĂa or Santa Maria) is a surname from the Latin Arch in Europe. The name, a reference to the Blessed Virgin Mary meaning Holy Mary or Saint Mary, means the same thing in the Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and Catalan languages. In Arabic, the equivalent name is Mariam. The surname has spread to the Americas, especially South America, via immigration and colonisation
