Title: LGBTQIA+ Musicians
Post by: Lexi Darling on Aug 14, 2023, 12:41 AM
I want to try to spread some love for my community, so why not.

I listen to a fair amount of artists under the LGBT umbrella, mostly the T as that is my personal letter of the acronym. I'm very much into artists who write about their identity and their experiences openly in their lyrics especially. So let's promote some positivity, I'd love to see who you all listen to.

I'll start things off with Ada Rook, an artist I've enjoyed for a few years now. She's a trans woman best known as a member of the band Black Dresses, but she has some wicked dope solo work as well. Check her out if you like industrial rock, EBM, alt-metal, screamy shit, etc.

Oh, that's so cool! Will definitely peep later.

Let's get emo up in here. I'm gonna rep one of the best bands from my hometown, Rainer Maria, whose guitarist Kaia Fischer came out as trans after the band's initial breakup and was out when they reformed. Here's a cool live set from when she had just begun transition.

And here's the studio recording of one of their classic songs.

This has to have been one of the worst kept secrets in the entertainment industry...
